Ousmane Dembélé’s two-goal performance was the standout highlight in Paris Saint-Germain’s dramatic 4-2 comeback victory over AS Monaco, a result that extended their lead at the top of Ligue 1 to a commanding 10 points. The thrilling match at Stade Louis II saw PSG overcome several setbacks, including a first-half injury to goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who was forced off the field in the 22nd minute after a collision with Monaco's Wilfried Singo.
PSG responded to Donnarumma’s early departure with resilience. Just two minutes after the goalkeeper’s exit, Achraf Hakimi made a lung-busting run down the right wing and delivered a perfect assist to Desire Doue, who calmly slotted home to give PSG a 1-0 lead. However, Monaco quickly equalized in the second half, when Eliesse Ben Seghir converted a penalty in the 52nd minute after Marquinhos was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the box.
Things took a turn for the worse for PSG in the 60th minute when Monaco went ahead 2-1 through Breel Embolo’s header off a cross from Maghnes Akliouche. But the Parisians were not deterred. In the 64th minute, Dembélé restored parity for PSG with a composed finish, equalizing at 2-2. Moments later, Goncalo Ramos, who had just entered the fray as a substitute, made an instant impact. Ramos scored from a corner delivered by Lee Kang-In, heading the ball past Monaco’s goalkeeper Philipp Kohn to give PSG a 3-2 lead.
With the momentum fully on their side, PSG sealed the win late in stoppage time, thanks to Dembélé’s second goal. The French winger broke free on a counter-attack and, with Monaco’s defense scrambling, expertly chipped the ball over Kohn to make it 4-2, securing a crucial win for PSG.
Ramos’ quick-fire goal was another notable moment from the match. The Portuguese striker made an immediate impact after coming on as a substitute, scoring just three minutes and eight seconds after his introduction. This made it one of the fastest substitute goals of the season in Ligue 1, with only Lens' Angelo Fulgini’s goal against Marseille coming quicker.
Despite the injuries and challenges faced, PSG’s display of character and quick response to Monaco’s attacks showed their growing strength under manager Christophe Galtier. The team’s ability to stay composed under pressure, especially after Donnarumma’s injury, further solidified their title credentials as they continue to dominate Ligue 1. The victory also maintained their solid form in both domestic and European competitions, ensuring PSG remains firmly in control at the top of the French football pyramid.
