Rodrygo has publicly voiced his disappointment over not being included in this year’s Ballon d'Or shortlist, a decision he attributes to his versatility rather than his performance. The Real Madrid forward, who had an outstanding season scoring 17 goals and providing 9 assists in 51 matches, was noticeably absent from the 30-player list released last week. Despite his significant contributions on the field, Rodrygo was overlooked, sparking frustration among fans and pundits alike.
Rodrygo's exclusion comes as a surprise to many given his impactful performances throughout the season. His ability to adapt and excel in various attacking roles for Real Madrid has been a key factor in his team’s success. The omission from the Ballon d'Or list has led Rodrygo to question whether his versatility played a role in his exclusion. He feels that his contributions should have been recognized alongside other top players.
The Ballon d'Or, awarded annually to the best football player in the world, is often a reflection of standout performances and contributions to the sport. Rodrygo’s absence from the shortlist has sparked discussions about the criteria used for selection and whether the true impact of players like him is being fully acknowledged. As he processes this setback, Rodrygo remains focused on continuing his strong performances and contributing to his team’s success, hoping that future seasons will bring the recognition he believes he deserves.
