It was their first time scoring in four matches and also highlighted their dominance over Dutch teams in European competitions, as Salzburg has now won their last three encounters against teams from the Netherlands, after previously failing to win in their first four meetings.

In an impressive display of resilience and clinical finishing, Salzburg defeated Feyenoord 3-1 away in the Champions League, securing their first points of the season. The Austrian side, which had endured an eight-match winless streak in the competition, put in a commanding performance at De Kuip, stunning the home team with a stellar display led by Karim Konate.

Konate, who had been a key figure in Ivory Coast’s Africa Cup of Nations victory earlier this year, opened the scoring in the 45th minute, taking advantage of a goalkeeper error from Feyenoord's Timon Wellenreuther. Wellenreuther failed to collect a cross properly, allowing Oscar Gloukh to deliver a perfect ball to Konate, who headed it home.

Salzburg extended their lead early in the second half, with Kamil Piatkowski’s header off a corner finding Konate again, who volleyed it past the Feyenoord keeper to make it 2-0. The Dutch team’s situation worsened in the 79th minute when Chris-Kevin Nadje was sent off for a reckless tackle, leaving Feyenoord with just ten men.

Despite the disadvantage, Feyenoord managed to reduce the deficit just two minutes later when Anis Hadj Moussa found the back of the net, bringing the score to 2-1. However, Salzburg had a chance to seal the victory when a penalty was awarded in the 85th minute following a VAR review, but Konate's attempt for a hat-trick hit the crossbar.

The final nail in Feyenoord’s coffin came when Daouda Guindo, who had come off the bench, scored a stunning long-range goal in the dying moments of the match, ensuring Salzburg’s victory at 3-1.

This win not only marked Salzburg's first victory of the season in the Champions League but also ended their eight-match winless streak in the competition.
