Mohamed Salah is having an extraordinary season in 2024-25, solidifying his status as one of the Premier League's top superstars. At 32, an age when many footballers begin to slow down, Salah continues to defy expectations, playing a pivotal role in Liverpool's success under new manager Arne Slot. The Egyptian forward has been instrumental in powering Liverpool to a five-point lead at the top of the Premier League and maintaining an unbeaten record in the UEFA Champions League, further cementing his importance to the team.
Salah's numbers this season are nothing short of remarkable, and it’s clear that he might be having his best year yet. Since joining Liverpool in 2017, Salah has continually broken records, and his early-season stats in the 2024-25 campaign showcase just how exceptional he has been. By November 9th, Salah became the first player in Europe’s top five leagues to reach double digits in both goals and assists, with 10 goals and 10 assists. This achievement set a new milestone, as Salah became the fastest player in Premier League history to reach double figures in both categories.
His impact on the field has been incredible. Salah has been directly involved in a goal every 67.5 minutes this season, with a goal every 134 minutes and an assist at the same rate. His contribution rate is even better than his debut season with Liverpool, where he delivered a goal or assist every 69.8 minutes. This level of consistency is a testament to his incredible fitness, focus, and ability to maintain peak performance year after year.
Salah’s reliability is also evident in his performance across multiple competitions. In the current campaign, he has scored or assisted in 11 of his 14 starts, demonstrating his consistency and importance both in the Premier League and Champions League. His ability to perform in key moments, regardless of the competition, continues to make him one of the most dangerous players in world football.
In addition to his domestic achievements, Salah has recently surpassed Arsenal legend Thierry Henry in both Champions League assists and Premier League assists. Salah now has 17 Champions League assists, surpassing Henry's record of 16, and 75 Premier League assists, edging past Henry’s 74. This achievement is particularly remarkable as both players are in their eighth seasons with their respective clubs, highlighting Salah’s consistency and longevity at the top level.
Salah's form this season reinforces his place as one of the Premier League's finest players, and his continued excellence on the pitch demonstrates his unrivaled commitment to Liverpool’s success. As he continues to break records and deliver crucial performances, Salah is proving that age is no barrier to greatness, and his role in Liverpool's ambitions remains as vital as ever.
