Madison Keys extended her impressive form to reach the Australian Open semifinals for the third time, overcoming a tough challenge from Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina in a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory on Wednesday. The 29-year-old American showcased her resilience and powerful game, turning the match around after dropping the first set to secure a spot in the final four.
Keys is riding a remarkable 10-match winning streak, having started the year in stellar fashion by clinching the Adelaide title. In the final of that tournament, she delivered a commanding performance against fellow American Jessica Pegula, setting the tone for her Australian Open campaign.
In the quarterfinal against Svitolina, Keys struggled to find her rhythm early, with the Ukrainian taking the opening set 6-3. However, Keys fought back with a blend of aggressive baseline play and clutch serving to level the match in the second set. The deciding set was a tightly contested affair, but Keys’ ability to handle pressure in key moments proved decisive.
With this win, Keys cements her status as one of the in-form players of the tournament and a serious contender for the title. She now looks ahead to the semifinals, where she hopes to continue her strong run and make a push for her maiden Grand Slam crown.
