"He had his foot stamped on during training yesterday, and we decided not to risk him in a pre-season friendly," Iraola said following Bournemouth’s 1-0 victory.

Dominic Solanke missed Bournemouth's friendly against Rayo Vallecano due to an injury, as confirmed by head coach Andoni Iraola. This absence has sparked transfer speculation linking Solanke with a move to Tottenham, with manager Ange Postecoglou reportedly interested in adding a new striker during the transfer window. Solanke is said to have a £65 million release clause.

Iraola explained that Solanke's injury was a result of a training incident rather than any transfer-related issues. "He had his foot stamped on during training yesterday, and we decided not to risk him in a pre-season friendly," Iraola said following Bournemouth’s 1-0 victory. He hopes Solanke will be fit for the next match against Girona.

Despite the ongoing transfer rumors, Iraola emphasized that the decision to hold Solanke out was purely precautionary. "It’s not a serious injury, just an issue where he couldn’t put on his boot, so we chose not to risk him," he noted. Iraola also mentioned that other players like Justin Kluivert and Lewis Cook had minor problems but are expected to return to action soon.

The speculation around Solanke grew after his omission from the squad for the match against Rayo Vallecano. However, Iraola stressed that there are no plans to sell the striker. "I can only provide details about what’s happening. The transfer situation is beyond my control," Iraola said, addressing the speculation.

Solanke enjoyed a standout season last year, scoring 19 goals in the Premier League and setting a club record for Bournemouth. His impressive performance has drawn attention from other clubs, but Iraola remains committed to keeping him at the club.
