Following a narrow defeat in their opening match against the Jaipur Pink Panthers, the team bounced back impressively, securing their first win against the UP Yoddhas in a thrilling contest that highlighted their resilience and skill.

The Bengal Warriorz have embarked on an exciting journey in the PKL 2024 season, showcasing their potential and determination under the leadership of captain Fazel Atrachali. Following a narrow defeat in their opening match against the Jaipur Pink Panthers, the team bounced back impressively, securing their first win against the UP Yoddhas in a thrilling contest that highlighted their resilience and skill.

In the first game, despite the loss, Nitin Dhankhar captured the spotlight with his standout performance. However, it was the young starlet Sushil Kambrekar who emerged as a surprise sensation in the subsequent match. The 19-year-old's performance was pivotal in turning the tide for the Bengal Warriorz. Head coach Prashant Surve praised Kambrekar's contributions, stating, "The turning point in the game against the UP Yoddhas was undoubtedly Sushil. He scored two crucial multiple-point raids, showcasing his talent and determination. He truly was our surprise package this year."

Echoing the coach's sentiments, captain Fazel Atrachali expressed his satisfaction with Kambrekar's development. "I am very happy with how Sushil has played, and the Bengal Warriorz are now in a confident place," Atrachali said. He emphasized the importance of team success over individual accolades, remarking, "For me, it is crucial that the team wins, and individual performances are secondary in that sense."

Atrachali acknowledged the pressures faced by young players in their debut season and emphasized his role in building their confidence. "I always try to instill confidence in them," he explained. "I kept telling Sushil that it's okay to make mistakes, that he should keep pushing forward, and it finally worked for us. If I scold him for a couple of lost points, it might undermine his confidence the next time he steps on the mat."

The captain's faith in Kambrekar is backed by the player's hard work and dedication. "Sushil is a very good player who works incredibly hard, and I am very proud of him," Atrachali continued. "I am sure he will shine and do exceptionally well for the Bengal Warriorz in PKL Season 11."

As the season progresses, the Bengal Warriorz look poised to build on their early successes, fueled by the emerging talents like Kambrekar and the experienced guidance of Atrachali. With a strong team dynamic and a commitment to nurturing young players, the Bengal Warriorz are ready to make their mark in this year's PKL tournament. Fans can look forward to more thrilling performances as the team strives for excellence in their quest for glory.
