In a thrilling evening of Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) 2024 action, U Mumba and Telugu Titans secured narrow victories in two gripping encounters, showcasing incredible skill, resilience, and individual brilliance.
U Mumba vs. Patna Pirates (42-40)
U Mumba emerged victorious in a hard-fought contest against Patna Pirates, winning 42-40 in a match that went down to the wire. The match was filled with action, with Patna Pirates initially dominating. Their raiding duo, Devank and Ayan, set the tone early with aggressive raids, even managing to inflict an All-Out on U Mumba through Ayan's bold two-point effort. However, U Mumba responded quickly, thanks to an exceptional performance from Ajit, who took charge and led the comeback.
Ajit’s Super Tackles played a crucial role in neutralizing Patna’s key raiders, removing both Devank and Ayan from the mat. He continued his brilliant form with two Super Raids, ultimately achieving a Super 10. His efforts helped U Mumba take a slim 24-21 lead into halftime. Despite a strong counterattack from Patna, including Devank’s Super Raid, which earned him a Super 10 and briefly put Patna ahead, U Mumba held their ground. In the final moments, Ajit and Amirmohammad Zafardanesh combined to inflict another All-Out on Patna Pirates, sealing the win for U Mumba.
Ajit’s 19 raid points were the standout performance of the match, with Sombir’s three critical tackle points also contributing significantly. Patna Pirates’ Devank led the raid points with 15, while Deepak’s three tackle points helped keep his team in the game.
Telugu Titans vs. Tamil Thalaivas (34-33)
In another closely contested match, Telugu Titans triumphed 34-33 over Tamil Thalaivas in the Southern Derby, extending their winning streak to three games. Pawan Sehrawat was the star for the Titans, finishing with 12 raid points and playing a pivotal role in an early All-Out on Tamil Thalaivas. The Titans dominated in the first half, but Tamil Thalaivas fought back fiercely in the second, driven by Sachin’s outstanding performance.
Sachin, who finished with 17 raid points, was in sensational form, becoming the first player to reach 1000 career raid points in PKL. His powerful Super Raid helped Tamil Thalaivas close the gap and even briefly take the lead in the second half. Despite Sachin’s heroics, the Titans remained resilient, with Pawan Sehrawat completing a Super 10 and helping his team regain the lead with a three-point advantage.
In a tense final exchange, Ankit’s perfectly timed tackle on Sachin in the closing moments proved to be the difference-maker, securing a slender 34-33 victory for Telugu Titans. Pawan Sehrawat’s 12 raid points and Sagar’s three tackles were instrumental in the win, while Tamil Thalaivas’ Sachin led the charge with 17 raid points, and Nitesh Kumar’s four tackle points played a crucial role in their defensive efforts.
Both matches were thrilling showcases of the intensity and skill that define the Pro Kabaddi League, with U Mumba and Telugu Titans holding their nerve to secure crucial victories.
