India produced a historic result in shooting at the Aichi Nagoya Asian Games 2026 on September 23, with Raiza Dhillon, Parinaaz Dhaliwal and Maheshwari Chauhan winning the bronze medal in the women’s skeet team event.
The Indian trio finished third with a combined score of 331 points after the qualification rounds. Raiza Dhillon and Parinaaz Dhaliwal both recorded scores of 111 out of 125, while Maheshwari Chauhan contributed 109 points. Their combined performance was enough to secure India a place on the podium.
The result is significant for Indian shooting because it represents the country’s first ever Asian Games medal in the women’s skeet team event. The achievement also adds another medal to India’s shooting campaign at the Aichi Nagoya Games.
China finished at the top of the team standings to take the gold medal, while Kazakhstan secured the silver medal. India’s total of 331 points placed the team behind the two leading nations and earned the Indian shooters a historic bronze.
The Indian team maintained its position through the qualification stages before completing the competition with the bronze medal. The three shooters produced a combined performance that allowed India to remain in medal contention until the end.
Raiza Dhillon was one of the standout performers for India, scoring 111 points. Parinaaz Dhaliwal also finished with 111, matching Raiza’s contribution to the team total. Maheshwari Chauhan added 109 points, completing the Indian trio’s combined score of 331.
The medal was particularly notable because two members of the Indian team also progressed to the individual women’s skeet final. Raiza and Parinaaz both recorded 111 in qualification and earned places in the eight shooter final. Maheshwari, who scored 109, narrowly missed qualification for the individual final.
Raiza later finished fourth in the individual final, narrowly missing another medal. She recorded 23 hits in the final. Parinaaz finished eighth after being eliminated earlier in the final. China’s Jiang Yiting won the individual gold medal, while Thailand’s Isarapa Imprasertsuk and Kazakhstan’s Assem Orynbay completed the individual podium.
Despite missing out on individual medals, Raiza and Parinaaz had already played an important role in India’s historic team bronze. Their qualification scores, combined with Maheshwari’s contribution, gave India the required total for third place.
Maheshwari Chauhan described the team’s performance as a result of collective effort. Speaking after the event, she acknowledged that the conditions at the shooting range were challenging and said the team had hoped for a medal of a different colour. She nevertheless welcomed the podium finish and highlighted the importance of the team effort.
The result also underlines the progress of Indian shotgun shooting at the continental level. The women’s skeet team’s bronze came during a strong day for Indian shooters at the Asian Games. India also secured a bronze medal in the men’s skeet team event, with Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Mairaj Ahmad Khan and Bhavtegh Singh Gill finishing third.
For Raiza Dhillon, the medal adds another important achievement to her growing international career. She has represented India at major international competitions and was part of the country’s shooting contingent at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Maheshwari Chauhan also has significant international experience, while Parinaaz Dhaliwal has competed in international shooting competitions before joining the senior Asian Games team.
The historic bronze is therefore not only a medal for three individual shooters but also an important result for India’s women’s skeet programme. Their performance gives India a new milestone in Asian Games shooting history and adds to the country’s growing medal tally in Aichi Nagoya.
