India remained active across several disciplines at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi Nagoya, Japan, on Thursday, September 24. The sixth day of competition featured Indian athletes and teams in shooting, rowing, wushu, athletics, hockey, kabaddi, squash, fencing, boxing, gymnastics, swimming, canoe sprint and esports.
One of the major updates from the day came from shooting, where Anant Jeet Singh Naruka and Parinaaz Dhaliwal won the bronze medal in the mixed team skeet event. The Indian pair scored 44 points in the final to finish third. China won the gold medal with 52 points, setting a world record, while South Korea claimed silver with 51 points. India had entered the final after finishing fourth in qualification with a score of 138 out of 150.
The mixed team skeet medal added another podium finish to India’s shooting campaign at the Games. It was also the second medal of the competition for both Anant Jeet Singh Naruka and Parinaaz Dhaliwal, following their medals in the respective team skeet events. India’s shooting contingent continued to contribute significantly to the overall medal tally during the competition.
Earlier in the day, India also secured a medal in rowing. Satnam Singh and Salman Khan finished third in the men’s double sculls final. The Indian pair recorded a time of 6:13.25. China’s Yi Xudi and Nie Yide won gold, while Uzbekistan’s Mekhrojbek Mamatkulov and Pavel Sorin took silver. Satnam and Salman remained among the leading crews through much of the race before finishing in third place.
Balraj Panwar also competed in the men’s single sculls final. He finished fourth after remaining in medal contention for much of the race. Panwar was positioned second at the 500 metre, 1,000 metre and 1,500 metre marks before losing ground during the final section. He eventually recorded a time of 6:54.80.
Wushu provided another important result for India. Roshibina Devi competed in the women’s 60kg Sanda final against China’s Zhang Xiaoyu. Roshibina lost the final 0 2 and finished with the silver medal. The result gave her a second consecutive Asian Games silver medal and her third successive medal at the continental Games. Her campaign in Japan included a semifinal victory over Indonesia’s Thania Kusumaningtyas.
The September 24 schedule also featured a large athletics programme for the Indian contingent. Asha Ilango and Niharika Vashisht were scheduled to compete in the women’s triple jump final. Seema was listed for the women’s 10,000 metre final, while Animesh Kujur and Gurindervir Singh were entered in the men’s 100 metre preliminary round. Indian athletes were also scheduled to compete in the women’s heptathlon events and the mixed 4x400 metre relay.
In hockey, India faced South Korea in a men’s Pool A match. The Indian kabaddi teams were also involved in the day’s programme, with the women’s team scheduled to play Japan. Indian players were additionally scheduled for competitions in squash, fencing, boxing, gymnastics, swimming, canoe sprint and esports. Several of these events included knockout rounds or medal events, making September 24 one of the busy days of India’s campaign.
In shooting, India’s men’s 10 metre air pistol team also competed on the same day. Kamaljeet, Kedarling Balakrishna Uchaganve and Aakash Bharadwaj finished fourth in the team event and missed the bronze medal. Kamaljeet scored 580, Aakash Bharadwaj recorded 579, while Kedarling Uchaganve finished with 568. The top eight individual shooters advanced to the individual final, with the Indian athletes missing out on qualification according to reports.
