Amazon has introduced its revamped Echo Spot smart alarm clock in India, offering a fresh design that draws inspiration from the Echo Pop. The 2024 model succeeds the original Echo Spot, which launched in India in 2018. However, the new version drops features like video calling and the smart home camera, making it a more straightforward, compact option for users seeking a smart alarm clock.
The Echo Spot displays key information such as time, weather, and song details, and users can choose from eight different clock faces and six color themes: orange, violet, magenta, lime, teal, and blue. The device also offers a night mode to help users check the time in low light conditions.
One of the standout features of the Echo Spot is its alarm system. Users can choose from four new alarm sounds—Aurora, Daybreak, Endeavor, and Flutter—or set their wake-up sound to music from services like Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify, or JioSaavn. Voice control is enabled via Alexa, and touch controls are available on the device’s screen.
For smart home enthusiasts, the Echo Spot can control compatible smart devices, set up routines, and even use motion detection to trigger actions like switching on lights when someone enters a room. It also supports audio calls to other Alexa-enabled devices and makes it easy to broadcast announcements throughout the house.
On the privacy side, the Echo Spot offers a microphone on/off button and provides options for managing voice recordings through the Alexa Privacy Hub, giving users more control over their data.
Pricing for the Echo Spot is set at Rs 8,999, but it’s currently available at an introductory price of Rs 6,449. Customers can purchase the device online via Amazon.in, Blinkit, and at Croma stores (both online and offline).
