Apple has officially launched the second-generation AirTag in India, introducing a range of practical upgrades aimed at enhancing the item-tracking experience. While the design remains identical to the first-generation model, Apple has focused on improving functionality, including tracking range, sound output, and integration with its Find My network. These improvements are intended to make locating misplaced items quicker, more accurate, and more convenient for users in real-world conditions.
One of the key highlights of AirTag 2 is the integration of Apple’s latest Ultra Wideband chip. This advancement allows Precision Finding to operate from up to 50 percent farther than the previous generation. Users can now receive directional guidance, haptic feedback, and sound cues from a greater distance when searching for lost items. This improvement is particularly useful for larger homes, offices, or public spaces where objects may be spread out over a wider area.
Apple has also enhanced the Bluetooth capabilities of AirTag 2. This improvement ensures that nearby Apple devices can detect AirTags from farther away, increasing the efficiency of locating lost items through the Find My network. The network, which leverages millions of Apple devices globally, enables users to track misplaced belongings even when they are not in close proximity to their own devices.
Another major upgrade is the internal speaker, which has been redesigned to deliver around 50 percent louder sound output. This feature helps users locate items more easily in noisy environments, such as crowded streets or busy offices, or when objects are hidden under furniture or inside bags. The combination of improved sound, longer range, and enhanced network detection makes AirTag 2 a more reliable tool for keeping track of valuable possessions.
Apple has positioned the AirTag 2 as a practical upgrade rather than a visual redesign, focusing on features that enhance everyday usability. The device continues to support the same design aesthetics, including its compact, circular form and easy attachment options for keys, bags, and other personal items. Importantly, the pricing remains unchanged from the original model launched in 2021, making it accessible to existing and new users who want improved performance without paying a premium.
AirTag 2 also continues to integrate seamlessly with Apple’s ecosystem, allowing users to receive notifications, use Precision Finding, and mark items as lost through the Find My app. The combination of hardware upgrades and network enhancements ensures that users can track their belongings more effectively than ever before.
With the launch of AirTag 2, Apple reinforces its commitment to improving practical everyday tools while maintaining the simplicity and reliability that made the original AirTag popular among users. The updated AirTag is now available through Apple’s official retail stores, online store, and authorized resellers in India.
