Google is reportedly enhancing its Gemini Live platform with the ability to understand and interact with uploaded documents. According to a report by Android Authority, the latest beta version of the Google app reveals text strings that suggest the upcoming feature will allow users to upload files directly into Gemini Live. While the platform currently supports document interaction in Gemini Advanced, the new feature will enable Gemini Live to provide contextual responses, making the AI’s conversations more relevant and informative.
The new functionality will recognize when a user uploads a document, offering options such as "Open Live with attachment" and "Talk about attachment." This will enable Gemini Live to pull context from the uploaded files and respond accordingly. Although the feature isn't available yet in the beta, it is expected to be released for public testing soon.
Gemini Live already supports conversational AI and can be used hands-free, even when the device is locked. In related news, reports suggest that Google is preparing to launch a standalone Gemini app for iPhones, which will likely include features like Gemini Live and customizable shortcuts for quick access. This expansion shows Google's continued efforts to enhance the accessibility and functionality of Gemini's AI tools across platforms.
