HMD has introduced the HMD Key, a new budget smartphone aimed at offering essential features at an affordable price. The phone runs Android 14 Go and promises a smooth user experience with quarterly security updates for two years.

HMD Key Specifications

The HMD Key features a 6.52-inch HD display with a 60Hz refresh rate and 460 nits brightness. It is powered by the Unisoc 9832E chipset, paired with 2GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card. Additionally, the phone utilizes up to 2GB of storage as virtual RAM to boost performance.

The camera setup includes an 8MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, along with a 5MP front-facing camera. Camera modes on the HMD Key include Portrait, Night, Pro, Slow Motion, Time Lapse, and Panorama, ensuring users have flexibility for various photography styles.

The phone is equipped with a 4000mAh battery that supports 10W charging, which HMD claims can last up to 47 hours of use. Additional features include a headphone jack, FM radio, USB-C port, and an IP52 rating for water resistance. The device supports 4G networks and offers face unlock for added security.

Pricing and Availability

The HMD Key comes in two colors: Icy Blue and Midnight Black. Included in the box are a screen protector, case, headset, and charger. The phone is priced at £59 and will be available starting January 2, 2025, through hmd.com in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand.
