Huawei has officially unveiled the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design in China, marking the introduction of the world’s first tri-fold smartphone. This groundbreaking device arrives shortly after Apple’s release of the iPhone 16 series. The Mate XT Ultimate Design features a versatile display that unfolds to a 10.2-inch LTPO OLED screen, which can be folded to 7.9 inches and further to 6.4 inches. The flexible screen offers resolutions of 3,184×2,232 pixels when fully open, 2,048×2,232 pixels when folded once, and 1,008×2,232 pixels when folded a second time.
Under the hood, the Mate XT Ultimate Design boasts 16GB of RAM and offers up to 1TB of internal storage, though the processor details have not been disclosed. The smartphone is equipped with a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a variable aperture, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 12MP periscope telephoto camera with 5.5x optical zoom and OIS. For selfies, it features an 8MP camera housed in a punch hole cutout.
The device is powered by a 5,600mAh battery supporting 66W wired and 50W wireless charging. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, NFC, and a USB 3.1 Type-C port. It weighs 298 grams and measures 156.7x73x12.8mm when unfolded, 156.7x143x7.45mm when folded once, and 156.7x219x3.6mm when folded twice.
Pricing for the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design starts at CNY 19,999 (approximately ₹2,35,900) for the base model with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The 512GB variant is priced at CNY 21,999 (around ₹2,59,500), while the 1TB model costs CNY 23,999 (about ₹2,83,100). The smartphone is available for pre-order now and will officially go on sale in China from September 20.
