Earlier this week, Apple unveiled the iPhone 16 series, introducing a new touch-sensitive 'Camera Control' button designed to streamline the photo-taking experience. This button allows users to launch the camera app and adjust various settings quickly. However, just a week before the iPhone 16 is set to hit the market, Realme has teased a similar feature that will debut on an upcoming device.
In a video shared on Weibo, Realme VP Chase Xu demonstrated the new camera button on an unannounced Realme smartphone. This button not only launches the camera with a press but also allows users to zoom in and out, before pressing it again to capture the image. Despite excitement surrounding the feature, Xu clarified that this camera button won't be included in the highly anticipated Realme GT 7 Pro, refuting earlier speculation about the flagship device.
This is not the first time Realme has drawn inspiration from Apple’s innovations. In 2022, the company introduced the Realme C55, a budget device equipped with a 'Mini Capsule' feature, which mimics Apple’s Dynamic Island by showing notifications around the front-facing camera. Although limited in functionality—displaying only step counts, weather updates, and charging status—the Mini Capsule demonstrated Realme's willingness to adopt and adapt Apple’s popular features.
While the GT 7 Pro won’t feature this touch-sensitive camera button, Realme hasn’t confirmed which smartphone will debut with it. If the Mini Capsule serves as a precedent, the feature could appear on a midrange or budget phone in Realme's lineup.
