In July, Qualcomm introduced its latest Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chipset, designed for affordable smartphones. Redmi, a sub-brand of Xiaomi, is preparing to launch the first Snapdragon 4s Gen 2-powered smartphone in India—the Redmi A4 5G.
At the IMC 2024 event, Redmi officially revealed the Redmi A4 5G, positioning it as an affordable 5G option in the Indian market. Although the exact price is yet to be confirmed, the device is expected to be priced under ₹10,000, making it a budget-friendly 5G offering. The phone was displayed in two color variants—White and Black—and features a sleek design with a round camera island and side-mounted volume and power buttons.
While Redmi has not yet disclosed the full specifications or launch date, the company has hinted that the device will debut soon. Commenting on the announcement, Muralikrishnan B, President of Xiaomi India, stated, “As we celebrate 10 years in India, the Redmi A4 5G marks a significant milestone in our mission to bring advanced technology to every Indian. Designed for the Indian market, it embodies our vision of ‘5G for Everyone,’ helping bridge the digital divide. With the rapid adoption of 5G in India, we are proud to drive this transformation.”
Redmi is expected to reveal more details about the launch date and features in the coming days as they continue to tease the device. This upcoming smartphone is set to play a key role in Xiaomi’s vision to accelerate India’s shift to 5G technology and provide an enhanced entry-level smartphone experience.
