Samsung has officially teased its next-generation foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra, which is expected to launch later this year. The teaser hints at significant design upgrades and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) features, marking a step forward in Samsung’s efforts to lead the foldable smartphone segment globally.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra is said to come with a noticeably slimmer and lighter build, addressing one of the most common concerns users had with previous Fold models. While official dimensions have not yet been disclosed, early renders and leaks suggest a thinner hinge and a less bulky form factor, which should enhance portability and ease of use.
One of the key highlights of the upcoming device will be its AI-powered capabilities. Samsung is reportedly incorporating its Galaxy AI suite more deeply into the Fold series, offering enhanced productivity and personalization features. These could include real-time translation, intelligent app suggestions, improved battery management, and context-aware actions. The AI features are expected to be processed both on-device and via Samsung’s cloud services, allowing for faster and more secure performance.
In terms of display, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra will likely continue with the dual-screen approach—a large, tablet-sized inner display and a smaller external screen. Samsung is rumored to use its latest generation of Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) for improved durability. There are also reports of reduced crease visibility, which has been another point of criticism in earlier models.
Camera enhancements are also expected, with speculation pointing to a triple-lens rear camera system featuring AI-assisted photography modes. These could include better low-light performance, scene optimization, and advanced video stabilization. Samsung may also introduce AI photo editing features, allowing users to touch up images directly on the device without needing third-party apps.
Performance-wise, the Fold 7 Ultra is anticipated to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, paired with at least 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage in select models. The foldable is expected to run on One UI 7, based on Android 14, with exclusive features tailored to foldable form factors.
Battery capacity could see a minor boost, though efficiency improvements from AI and software optimization are expected to deliver longer usage times. Fast charging and wireless charging will continue to be supported.
The official unveiling is likely to take place at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event, expected in late July or early August. Pricing details are not yet confirmed, but early indications suggest the Fold 7 Ultra may be priced at a premium compared to the Fold 5, reflecting its enhanced build and AI capabilities.
As Samsung continues to push the boundaries of foldable innovation, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra stands out as a promising leap in combining design refinement with next-gen intelligence.
