Ducati has introduced the 2026 Monster V2 in India, expanding its premium motorcycle portfolio with the latest generation of its popular naked motorcycle. The new Monster V2 is priced from Rs 13.99 lakh ex showroom in India and brings a new 890cc V2 engine, updated styling, revised chassis technology and an advanced electronics package.
The 2026 Monster represents the fifth generation of the Ducati Monster family. Ducati has redesigned the motorcycle while retaining the core characteristics associated with the Monster name, including a compact profile, muscular fuel tank and naked motorcycle design.
The most important mechanical update is the new 890cc V2 engine. The engine produces 111 hp at 9,000 rpm and 91.1 Nm of maximum torque at 7,250 rpm. Ducati uses an intake variable timing system to provide a broader spread of power and torque across the rev range.
The engine is paired with a six speed gearbox and Ducati Quick Shift technology. The new engine also brings a longer valve clearance inspection interval of 45,000 km, which could help reduce the frequency of major scheduled maintenance compared with older Ducati engine configurations.
Weight reduction is another important feature of the new motorcycle. Ducati says the Monster weighs 175 kg without fuel, making it around 4 kg lighter than the previous generation. The motorcycle uses an aluminium monocoque frame, with the engine contributing to the structural layout. A lightweight rear subframe and double sided swingarm complete the chassis package.
The suspension system consists of a 43 mm Showa upside down front fork and a Showa rear monoshock with preload adjustment. Braking duties are handled by twin 320 mm front discs with Brembo M4.32 radial calipers. The motorcycle is equipped with Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres in 120/70 front and 180/55 rear sizes.
The 2026 Monster also receives a comprehensive electronic rider assistance package. A six axis inertial measurement unit forms the basis of systems including cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control, Ducati Wheelie Control and Engine Brake Control.
The motorcycle offers four riding modes consisting of Sport, Road, Urban and Wet. These modes allow the rider to adjust the motorcycle's behaviour according to road conditions and riding requirements. The electronic systems can also be configured through the motorcycle's controls and dashboard.
A new five inch full TFT instrument cluster is another major update. The display has a 16:9 format and offers different information layouts designed to improve readability. Ducati also offers compatibility with its multimedia system and turn by turn navigation features, depending on the equipment and configuration.
The design of the 2026 Monster draws inspiration from the original Monster while introducing modern styling elements. Ducati has brought back the larger, more muscular fuel tank profile associated with earlier generations. The motorcycle also features a round LED headlamp with a distinctive daytime running light and updated indicators.
The riding position has also been revised. The standard seat height is 815 mm, while Ducati offers a lower seat and suspension lowering kit that can reduce the overall seat height to 775 mm. This could make the motorcycle more accessible to a wider range of riders.
In terms of variants, the new Monster is offered internationally in standard Monster and Monster Plus versions. The Monster Plus adds a small front windscreen and passenger seat cover to the standard equipment. Ducati has also offered the motorcycle in colours including Ducati Red and Iceberg White, with additional colour options introduced in selected markets.
