Tata Motors is continuing road testing of the next generation Nexon ahead of its expected arrival in India in 2027. The compact SUV has been spotted several times in recent months, and the latest spy images provide more information about the changes being considered for the new model.
The latest test vehicle is heavily camouflaged, but two details stand out. The front section appears to have been redesigned, while the SUV is seen wearing alloy wheels that closely resemble the design used on the Tata Curvv. These changes add to earlier indications that the upcoming Nexon could be a more substantial generation update rather than another routine facelift.
New Front Design
The latest spy shots show a noticeably revised front profile on the test vehicle. Because the production bodywork remains covered, the final headlamp, grille and bumper design cannot yet be confirmed.
Earlier test vehicles had already indicated changes to the body proportions and overall shape. Reports have pointed to a more upright appearance, changes around the A pillar and C pillar, and modifications to the rear section.
The latest prototype continues to use temporary components in some areas, which means certain visible details may not appear on the final production vehicle. However, the appearance of Curvv-style alloys does not confirm that the production Nexon will receive 18 inch wheels. The tyre markings in the available spy images are not clear enough to establish the exact diameter. Development vehicles can also use existing wheels and tyres while engineers test different combinations.
Therefore, an 18 inch alloy option should currently be considered a possibility rather than a confirmed specification. If Tata eventually introduces larger wheels on the new Nexon, they could be reserved for higher variants.
Possible New Generation Platform
The latest design changes have strengthened expectations that the upcoming Nexon will represent a generation change. Earlier reports have suggested that the new model could use a heavily revised version of Tata's X1 architecture, with the ATLAS platform also mentioned as a possible basis.
The Curvv connection is particularly interesting because the Curvv is based on Tata's newer platform architecture. However, the use of Curvv-style wheels does not establish that the two SUVs will share the same platform or mechanical components.
