The BMW Group has released its financial results for the first quarter of 2025, reporting stable profitability that aligns with analyst forecasts. The performance reflects the company’s continued focus on strategic pricing, premium vehicle demand, and efficient cost control across all business areas.
According to the financial statement, the company recorded steady revenues and operating profit, despite facing persistent challenges such as global supply chain constraints, fluctuating raw material costs, and regional economic uncertainty. The Group’s automotive division remained the core contributor, supported by increased sales of high-margin models and strong demand in key international markets.
BMW’s premium vehicles, including the BMW 7 Series, X5, and the fully electric i4 and iX models, continued to attract customers worldwide. The company’s electric mobility segment showed significant growth, with a double-digit percentage increase in sales of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) compared to the same quarter last year. The positive reception of the brand’s new-generation EVs reaffirmed its strategy toward electrification and sustainability.
Key Highlights – Q1 2025:
Group revenue: In line with previous-year quarter, driven by robust sales and product mix
Operating profit (EBIT): Stable margins supported by pricing discipline
Automotive deliveries: Continued strong global demand, especially in Europe and Asia
BEV growth: Significant increase in fully electric vehicle sales
Motorcycles and Financial Services: Both divisions contributed positively to overall group results
BMW Motorrad reported growth in several markets, supported by new launches and seasonal buying trends. Meanwhile, BMW Financial Services recorded solid performance, with stable lease and financing volumes and low default rates, despite rising interest rates in some regions.
Chief Financial Officer Walter Mertl commented, “We delivered a resilient performance in the first quarter, reflecting our strong portfolio, operational discipline, and global reach. Despite external challenges, we maintained profitability and remain well-positioned to navigate the rest of 2025.”
BMW also reiterated its commitment to long-term investments in electric mobility, autonomous driving technologies, and digitalization. The company’s transformation plan remains on track, with increased capital expenditure directed toward EV production capacity and battery technology development.
Looking ahead, BMW expects a moderate improvement in market conditions in the second half of the year. However, the company remains cautious due to potential macroeconomic headwinds, including geopolitical tensions, currency fluctuations, and uneven recovery in global demand.
Industry analysts have generally responded positively to the Q1 results, noting BMW’s ability to maintain performance amid external pressures. The Group’s focus on profitability over volume, alongside innovation and premium positioning, has helped it sustain momentum during a challenging business environment.
The company plans to provide updated guidance in its mid-year report, which will include detailed projections on EV sales growth and market strategy for the rest of 2025.
