Dacia's manufacturing facility in Mioveni, Romania, has achieved a remarkable production milestone by rolling out its 8 millionth vehicle. Established in 1968, the Mioveni plant has been instrumental in Dacia's evolution from a national carmaker to a significant player in the global automotive industry.
A Legacy of Growth and Innovation
The Mioveni plant commenced operations with the production of the Dacia 1100, a model based on the Renault R8. Over the decades, the facility has expanded its capabilities, introducing various models that have become synonymous with reliability and affordability. Notably, the Dacia 1300 series laid the foundation for the brand's reputation, serving customers for nearly three decades.
In 1999, a significant transformation occurred when Renault Group acquired a majority stake in Dacia, leading to substantial investments in technology and infrastructure. This partnership facilitated the introduction of new models and the modernization of production processes, aligning Dacia with international standards.
Modern Manufacturing Excellence
Today, the Mioveni plant stands as a testament to advanced manufacturing practices. Spanning 288 hectares, with 62 hectares dedicated to covered buildings, the facility boasts a workforce of approximately 6,837 employees as of December 31, 2023. The plant's operations encompass bodywork assembly and logistics, ensuring efficient production and distribution of vehicles.
The integration of over 800 industrial robots has revolutionized the assembly process, enabling the production of a vehicle every 54 seconds. This automation, coupled with rigorous quality control measures, ensures that each vehicle meets stringent standards before reaching customers.
Diverse Model Production
The Mioveni plant's production portfolio includes popular models such as the Duster, Logan, and Jogger. In 2023, the facility produced 209,982 units of the Duster 2, 97,872 units of the Jogger, and 12,148 units of the Logan 3. These models cater to a wide range of customer preferences, from compact city cars to versatile SUVs.
A significant portion of the plant's output is destined for international markets, with 86% of vehicles exported. This global reach underscores Dacia's commitment to delivering value-driven vehicles to customers worldwide
Commitment to Sustainability and Quality
Beyond production, the Mioveni plant emphasizes environmental responsibility and quality assurance. The facility holds certifications such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 (version 2015), reflecting its adherence to international standards in quality management and environmental practices.
Continuous investments in employee training and technological upgrades ensure that the plant remains at the forefront of automotive manufacturing. This dedication to excellence has solidified Mioveni's status as a central hub in Dacia's production network.
