Honda Elevate Earns 5-Star Global NCAP Safety Rating, But Sales Temporarily Halted

This temporary unavailability has left potential buyers disappointed, especially those who were drawn by the SUV’s modern design, spacious interiors, and now — its proven safety credentials.

Honda’s popular compact SUV, the Elevate, has just received a 5-star safety rating from the Global New Car Assessment Programme (Global NCAP), marking a major achievement for the brand in India’s competitive SUV segment. The vehicle underwent rigorous crash testing and performed exceptionally well in both adult and child occupant protection categories, highlighting Honda’s commitment to safety engineering.

The Elevate features a strong body structure with extensive use of high-tensile steel, six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and seatbelt reminders for all occupants. These features contributed to the impressive safety score, positioning the Elevate as a reliable choice for families and daily commuters alike.

However, while the safety rating is a boost for the Elevate’s image, there’s a twist — the SUV is currently not available for new bookings. Honda Cars India has temporarily paused the sale of the Elevate due to high demand and limited production capacity. The company aims to streamline deliveries and reduce waiting periods before reopening orders for new customers.

This temporary unavailability has left potential buyers disappointed, especially those who were drawn by the SUV’s modern design, spacious interiors, and now — its proven safety credentials. Industry insiders suggest that Honda is working on expanding production capacity to resume full-scale deliveries in the coming months.

Launched with a 1.5L i-VTEC petrol engine and available with both manual and CVT transmissions, the Elevate has received praise for its smooth performance, refined ride quality, and fuel efficiency. The SUV competes in a crowded segment that includes the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.

The addition of a 5-star Global NCAP rating gives Honda a major marketing edge, especially as safety becomes a growing concern among Indian buyers. With more customers actively researching crash test ratings before making a purchase, the Elevate's performance adds credibility to Honda’s positioning in the Indian market.

Honda is also reportedly working on an electric version of the Elevate, which is expected to launch in the coming year. If the same safety standards are applied to the EV variant, it could become a strong contender in the emerging electric SUV segment.

For now, while you may not be able to buy the Elevate immediately, it remains one of the safest and most promising compact SUVs in India — ready to bounce back strong once bookings resume.
