Positioned as a mid-range offering, it retains the practicality and reliability that the Amaze is known for while adding a few more conveniences that make it appealing to value-conscious buyers.

Honda Cars India has streamlined the lineup of its second-generation Amaze sedan by introducing a new S trim, which promises to offer enhanced value for customers. The Amaze, a popular choice in the compact sedan segment, is known for its refined design, fuel efficiency, and spacious cabin. The introduction of the new S variant is aimed at bridging the gap between the entry-level E trim and the feature-rich VX trim, giving buyers more flexibility in choosing a model that suits their budget and needs.

The newly introduced S trim comes with a balanced mix of features and affordability. Positioned as a mid-range offering, it retains the practicality and reliability that the Amaze is known for while adding a few more conveniences that make it appealing to value-conscious buyers. Key highlights of the S trim include body-colored door handles and ORVMs, a 2-DIN audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, steering-mounted audio controls, and electrically adjustable outside mirrors.

Mechanically, the Amaze lineup remains unchanged. It continues to be powered by a 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine producing 90 PS of power and 110 Nm of torque. Customers have the option of pairing the engine with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic gearbox. The engine is BS6-compliant and known for delivering a smooth and fuel-efficient driving experience, making it a preferred choice for both city commutes and occasional highway drives.

Honda has also revised the pricing structure of the Amaze lineup with this update. Depending on the variant, buyers can enjoy benefits and savings of up to Rs 97,200. This move is expected to make the Amaze more competitive against rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura, and Tata Tigor. By offering better value at strategic price points, Honda aims to strengthen its foothold in the segment.

In terms of safety, the Amaze S trim offers standard features such as dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and a high-speed alert system. These safety measures align with current regulations and meet customer expectations for a family-oriented sedan. Higher trims continue to offer added features like a rearview camera, automatic climate control, and alloy wheels.

The Amaze’s popularity in India has been built on its combination of premium design elements, practicality, and Honda’s reputation for reliability. With the introduction of the S trim, Honda is addressing the growing demand for well-equipped mid-range models that balance price and features. This update is part of Honda’s broader strategy to streamline its product portfolio while offering targeted solutions to various customer segments.

Bookings for the updated Amaze lineup, including the S trim, are now open at Honda dealerships across the country. Deliveries are expected to commence shortly, with the company aiming to capitalise on the upcoming festive season to boost sales.

By refining the Amaze lineup and introducing a value-packed S trim, Honda is positioning itself to attract both first-time buyers and those upgrading from smaller cars, ensuring the Amaze remains a strong contender in the competitive compact sedan market.

This move is expected to make the Amaze more competitive against rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura, and Tata Tigor.
