Hyundai Bayon Launched at Rs 9.99 Lakh With Dual 12.3-Inch Screens and 115 PS Engine

Hyundai Motor India has launched the Bayon SUV in India at an introductory ex-showroom price of Rs 9.99 lakh. The new model expands the company’s mid-size SUV portfolio alongside the Creta and brings a combination of modern styling, connected technology, driver assistance systems and a petrol powertrain. The Bayon is offered with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a choice of manual and automatic-style transmission options.

One of the main highlights is its dashboard, which features two 12.3-inch curved displays for the instrument cluster and infotainment system. The SUV also introduces Hyundai Motor India’s first generative AI voice assistant, along with connected-car functions and Level 2 Pro Advanced Driver Assistance Systems on selected variants. Bookings are open through Hyundai’s official website and authorised dealerships for Rs 11,000.

Hyundai Bayon Price and Positioning

The Hyundai Bayon starts at an introductory ex-showroom price of Rs 9.99 lakh. The final on-road price will depend on the buyer’s location, registration charges, insurance and other applicable costs.

Hyundai positions the Bayon as its second offering in the mid-size SUV category alongside the Creta. Its compact dimensions and technology-focused cabin are intended to appeal to customers looking for a feature-rich SUV for everyday use.

The introductory price is the announced starting price, not the final price of every variant. Customers should check the latest variant-wise prices and equipment with an authorised dealership before booking.

Engine and Transmission Options

The Bayon is powered by a four-cylinder, 1.5-litre MPi naturally aspirated petrol engine. It produces 115 PS of maximum power and 143.8 Nm of peak torque.

Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual gearbox and Hyundai’s Intelligent Variable Transmission, or iVT. The manual option gives drivers direct control over gear changes, while the iVT is designed to provide a smoother driving experience in changing traffic conditions.

The automatic version includes Dash Boost Mode, which Hyundai says improves responsiveness when quick acceleration is needed, including during overtaking. Sporty Drive Tech is also designed to provide a more engaging acceleration response. Paddle shifters and Eco, Normal and Sport driving modes are available to help drivers adjust the vehicle’s response to different conditions.

The manufacturer has reported a claimed fuel efficiency of 18.6 km per litre for the iVT version. Actual mileage can vary according to traffic, driving style, road conditions, air-conditioning use and vehicle load.

Dual 12.3-Inch Displays and Cabin Technology

The interior’s main feature is a pair of 12.3-inch curved panoramic displays. One screen presents driving information, while the other operates the infotainment system. Together, they create a wide digital dashboard layout.

Hyundai has incorporated a Connected Car Navigation Cockpit system accelerated by NVIDIA. The interface supports features such as online navigation, split-screen functionality and personalised controls.

Another major addition is the generative AI voice assistant, which combines intelligence from Perplexity with voice technology powered by SoundHound AI. The system is designed to understand conversational requests and provide information related to travel, weather, restaurants and other topics.

The SUV also supports more than 500 embedded voice commands in English, Hindi, Hinglish, Tamil, Bengali and Telugu. Hyundai says these commands allow selected vehicle functions to be operated without an internet connection. The infotainment and instrument-cluster interfaces support 10 regional languages and two international languages.

Hyundai Bluelink provides more than 70 connected features, while over-the-air software updates can support updates for up to 19 vehicle controllers. The availability of individual features may vary by variant and service conditions.

Safety Features and Driver Assistance

The Hyundai Bayon is equipped with a range of safety features, including six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist and a tyre-pressure monitoring system. Hyundai says more than 35 safety features are offered as standard across the range.

Selected variants also receive Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 Pro ADAS, which includes 23 driver-assistance functions. Depending on the variant, these may include forward collision warning and avoidance assistance, lane-related assistance, blind-spot functions, adaptive cruise control and highway driving assistance.

Other equipment available on selected versions includes a surround-view camera and a blind-spot view monitor. Buyers should confirm the exact safety equipment included in their chosen variant.

Hyundai describes the Bayon as engineered for five-star Indian safety standards. This is the manufacturer’s stated engineering objective and should not be confused with an independently awarded crash-test rating.

Exterior Design, Dimensions and Boot Space

The Bayon features a sculpted bonnet, LED daytime running lights, dual LED projector headlamps and prominent wheel-arch cladding. Its exterior design includes roof rails, alloy wheels and a rear spoiler.

The SUV measures approximately 4,245 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width and 1,605 mm in height with roof rails. It has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm and a reported ground clearance of 205 mm. The boot offers a claimed capacity of 505 litres, providing space for luggage and everyday family requirements.

Inside, equipment can include ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, rear air-conditioning vents, wireless phone charging, ambient lighting and a panoramic sunroof. The availability of these features depends on the selected variant.

Bookings and Upcoming CNG Variant

Bookings for the Hyundai Bayon are open through the manufacturer’s official website and authorised dealerships for Rs 11,000. Customers should confirm the on-road price, variant availability, delivery estimate and booking cancellation conditions before making a payment.

Hyundai has also announced plans to introduce a CNG version in January 2027. Further details about the CNG variant’s pricing, specifications and equipment should be confirmed when the company releases them officially.

The petrol Bayon is now available for customers considering a new SUV with a digital-focused cabin and modern driver assistance technology. Its introductory price, engine options, safety equipment and variant-wise features will be key factors for buyers comparing it with other SUVs in the Indian market.

Hyundai Bluelink provides more than 70 connected features, while over-the-air software updates can support updates for up to 19 vehicle controllers.
