Hyundai Bayon Launched in India at Rs 9.99 Lakh: Price, Mileage, Variants and Features
Hyundai Motor India has launched the new Hyundai Bayon SUV at an introductory starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh, ex-showroom. Positioned between the Venue and Creta in the company's SUV lineup, the Bayon brings a petrol engine, manual and automatic transmission options, advanced driver assistance technology and a range of connected features.
The new SUV is offered in seven trims: HX2, HX3, HX3+, HX5, HX6, HX8 and HX10. Bookings are open through Hyundai dealerships and the company's official website for Rs 11,000. Hyundai has also confirmed plans to introduce a CNG version in January 2027. The complete variant-wise price list and equipment distribution should be checked with the manufacturer or an authorised dealership.
Hyundai Bayon Price and Variants
The Hyundai Bayon starts at an introductory ex-showroom price of Rs 9.99 lakh. Its seven-trim lineup gives buyers a choice of equipment levels, from the entry-level HX2 to the range-topping HX10.
The six-speed manual transmission is offered on the HX2, HX3, HX3+, HX5, HX6, HX8 and HX10 trims. The iVT automatic is available on selected higher variants, including the HX5, HX6, HX8 and HX10. Equipment and transmission availability may vary by trim.
Customers can reserve the SUV with a booking payment of Rs 11,000 through Hyundai's official website or an authorised dealership. The final on-road price will depend on the variant, registration charges, insurance and other location-specific costs. Buyers should confirm the latest price and delivery estimate before placing an order.
Engine and Transmission Options
The Hyundai Bayon is powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated MPi petrol engine. It produces 115 PS of maximum power and 143.8 Nm of peak torque.
Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual gearbox and Hyundai's Intelligent Variable Transmission, known as iVT. The engine is already used in other Hyundai models in India, and the company says more than six lakh vehicles equipped with this powertrain have been sold domestically since 2020.
The iVT version includes Dash Boost Mode, designed to improve acceleration response when additional performance is needed, such as during overtaking. The SUV also offers Eco, Normal and Sport driving modes, along with paddle shifters on applicable variants.
Hyundai has not announced diesel or turbo-petrol options for the Bayon at launch. The initial lineup is focused on the naturally aspirated petrol engine.
Hyundai Bayon Mileage
The Hyundai Bayon has a reported claimed fuel efficiency of 18.6 kmpl for the iVT automatic version. This is a manufacturer-claimed test figure and should not be treated as a guaranteed real-world result. Actual fuel economy will depend on traffic conditions, driving style, road surface, vehicle load and maintenance.
The manual and automatic versions may deliver different fuel economy, so buyers should check the official mileage figure for their selected variant. Drivers who regularly travel in heavy city traffic or cover long distances should consider their driving patterns when comparing the two transmissions.
Hyundai has also confirmed a CNG version for January 2027. The company has not yet announced its final specifications, mileage, pricing or complete variant lineup. Buyers interested in the CNG model should wait for official details before comparing running costs.
Exterior Design and Dimensions
The Bayon has a distinctive SUV design with a sculpted bonnet, H-Edge LED daytime running lights, dual LED projector headlamps, geometric wheel arches and wraparound body cladding. Roof rails and alloy-wheel options add to its SUV styling.
The vehicle measures 4,245 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width and 1,605 mm in height with roof rails. Its wheelbase measures 2,600 mm, while ground clearance is 205 mm. These dimensions place it above the sub-four-metre SUV category and give it a different size profile from the Venue.
Hyundai offers the Bayon in a range of monotone, dual-tone and matte exterior colours. Options include Titanium Black, Classy Blue, Atlas White, Fiery Red, Golden Bronze and Ecotronic Grey. Dual-tone choices include Atlas White with a black roof and Fiery Red with a black roof. Matte finishes include Titanium Black Matte and Classy Blue Matte. Availability may vary by variant.
Interior and Technology Features
Technology is a major focus of the Bayon's cabin. The SUV features two 12.3-inch curved panoramic displays, combining the instrument cluster and infotainment system. It also introduces a generative AI voice assistant that supports more natural voice-based interactions.
Hyundai Bluelink provides more than 70 connected-car features, while over-the-air updates are supported for selected vehicle controllers. Other equipment includes wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a Bose premium sound system and support for multiple regional and international languages.
Comfort features available across the lineup, depending on the variant, include ventilated front seats, an electrically adjustable driver's seat, a panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, rear air-conditioning vents, wireless smartphone charging and two-step rear-seat reclining. The SUV also offers a claimed boot capacity of 505 litres.
Buyers should confirm which features are available on the specific trim they plan to purchase, as equipment is not identical across the entire range.
Safety and Driver Assistance Features
The Bayon comes with six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist and a tyre-pressure monitoring system. Hyundai also offers SmartSense Level 2 Pro Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, with 23 driver-assistance functions.
Depending on the function and operating conditions, the system can support features such as highway driving assistance, navigation-based smart cruise control, blind-spot monitoring and surround-view camera assistance. These systems are designed to assist the driver and do not replace attentive driving.
Hyundai says the SUV is built on its Global K Enhanced Platform, engineered to meet five-star Indian safety standards. This description refers to the manufacturer's engineering target and should not be interpreted as an independently published crash-test rating unless a recognised assessment is available.
Hyundai Bayon: What Buyers Should Know
The Hyundai Bayon combines a 115 PS petrol engine with manual and iVT transmission options, a modern digital cabin and a comprehensive list of safety and convenience features. Its introductory starting price is Rs 9.99 lakh, and bookings are open for Rs 11,000.
The claimed 18.6 kmpl fuel efficiency applies to the iVT version as reported, while actual economy may vary. Hyundai has confirmed a CNG version for January 2027, but detailed specifications and prices for that model remain to be announced.
Before buying, customers should compare the prices of individual trims, check the availability of desired features and confirm local on-road costs and delivery timelines with an authorised Hyundai dealership.
