Hyundai Motor India has officially launched the Aura S AMT variant, adding an affordable automatic transmission option to its compact sedan lineup. Priced at Rs 8.07 lakh ex-showroom, the new variant offers a balance of value, convenience, and performance for urban car buyers who prefer automatic driving at a competitive price point.
The Hyundai Aura is already a strong contender in the sub-4 metre sedan segment in India. With the introduction of the S AMT trim, Hyundai aims to attract more customers looking for a budget-friendly automatic car without compromising on essential features or driving comfort.
Key Features of the Hyundai Aura S AMT
The new Aura S AMT comes equipped with a 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine, which delivers 83 PS of power and 114 Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired with Hyundai’s Smart Auto AMT gearbox, designed for smoother gear shifts and better fuel efficiency in city driving conditions. This setup ensures a hassle-free driving experience, especially in stop-and-go traffic.
In terms of features, the Aura S AMT includes:
- An 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Steering-mounted audio and Bluetooth controls
- Rear parking sensors and camera
- Dual airbags and ABS with EBD
- Manual air conditioning and electrically adjustable ORVMs
The car is built on Hyundai’s latest platform and complies with all existing safety and emission regulations, including BS6 Phase 2 norms.
Design and Interior
The Hyundai Aura S AMT maintains the same exterior styling seen on the current-generation Aura, featuring a sleek front grille, halogen headlamps, and LED DRLs. It also sports 15-inch steel wheels with full wheel covers. The interior layout focuses on practicality and comfort, offering ample legroom for rear passengers and a boot space of 402 litres.
The dual-tone cabin and ergonomic dashboard design make it a comfortable option for daily commuters and small families. Hyundai has also ensured low cabin noise levels and improved ride quality with tuned suspension.
Market Positioning and Competitors
With the launch of the S AMT variant, Hyundai aims to strengthen its position in the compact sedan segment, where customers increasingly seek automatic options at accessible prices. The Aura competes directly with models like the Maruti Suzuki Dzire AMT, Honda Amaze CVT, and Tata Tigor AMT.
Hyundai continues to focus on offering a wide range of variants to suit different customer preferences, and the Aura S AMT stands out as one of the more affordable automatic offerings with a good set of features.
Booking and Availability
The Hyundai Aura S AMT is now available for booking at all Hyundai dealerships across India. Deliveries are expected to begin immediately. The model comes with Hyundai’s standard 3-year or 1 lakh kilometre warranty, along with optional extended warranty and roadside assistance packages.
This launch further reflects Hyundai’s strategy of offering technology-driven, feature-rich models at competitive price points for the Indian market.
