Isuzu Motors India, a subsidiary of Japan’s Isuzu Motors Limited, has recorded exceptional growth in its commercial vehicle exports for the financial year 2024–25, positioning itself as a top exporter in the segment. According to data released by the company, exports from its Indian operations surged by over 65% compared to the previous fiscal year, marking the highest annual export figure in the company’s India history.
The company’s manufacturing plant in SriCity, Andhra Pradesh, played a central role in supporting this export expansion. Isuzu’s robust lineup of light and medium-duty commercial vehicles, including the D-MAX pickup series, has witnessed increased demand in emerging markets across Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.
Senior company officials attributed this growth to a combination of factors, including enhanced production capabilities, improved supply chain management, and a strong focus on quality compliance. Additionally, Isuzu Motors India benefited from India's competitive manufacturing ecosystem and the government’s supportive export policies under the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for the automobile sector.
“In the financial year 2024–25, Isuzu Motors India has not only reinforced its position in the domestic market but has also emerged as a strong global supplier of commercial vehicles,” said a company spokesperson. “We are committed to offering durable, fuel-efficient vehicles suited for diverse terrains and business needs across international markets.”
Experts in the automotive sector view Isuzu’s export success as a positive indicator of India’s potential as an export hub for high-quality automotive products. With a focus on reliability and low cost of ownership, Isuzu’s commercial vehicles have resonated well with businesses operating in logistics, construction, and small-scale transport sectors.
Looking ahead, Isuzu Motors India plans to increase its R&D investment to customize vehicles based on regional requirements and to meet international emission and safety norms. The company also aims to expand its dealership and service network in the target export markets, thereby improving post-sale customer support and market penetration.
Isuzu’s achievement comes at a time when global supply chains are recovering from past disruptions, and automakers are seeking stable production bases. India’s automotive export growth, spearheaded by companies like Isuzu, underscores the country’s emerging role in global vehicle supply.
As FY 2025–26 begins, all eyes will be on whether Isuzu can sustain this momentum and further consolidate its position in the global commercial vehicle landscape.
