Higher trims include a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, cruise control, and leather upholstery.

Mahindra has revised the pricing of its popular Thar SUV in India, with most variants seeing a uniform increase of ₹20,000. The price adjustment comes amid rising production costs, input price inflation, and increasing demand for the rugged lifestyle SUV in the domestic market. The base Thar AXT 2WD petrol variant remains unchanged at ₹9.99 lakh, while all other trims, including petrol and diesel options in both 2WD and 4WD configurations, now carry a higher price tag.

The Mahindra Thar continues to enjoy strong popularity in India due to its off-road capabilities, iconic design, and combination of lifestyle and adventure-oriented features. The SUV is available in multiple trims and drivetrain options, catering to a wide spectrum of buyers—from urban enthusiasts seeking a bold city SUV to adventure lovers who require true off-road performance.

The Thar is offered in both petrol and diesel engines. Petrol variants are equipped with a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine delivering around 150 bhp, while diesel trims feature a 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine producing approximately 130 bhp. Both engines are paired with manual and automatic transmission options, depending on the variant. The 4WD variants provide superior off-road capabilities, including a low-range transfer case, mechanical rear differential lock, and higher ground clearance, making it ideal for challenging terrains.

In terms of features, the Mahindra Thar combines modern convenience with rugged utility. Higher trims include a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, cruise control, and leather upholstery. Safety features across the range include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, roll-over mitigation, and rear parking sensors, ensuring driver and passenger protection both on highways and off-road trails.

Mahindra has positioned the Thar as a lifestyle SUV that blends heritage-inspired design with contemporary technology. Its bold front grille, round headlamps, muscular wheel arches, and signature removable hard and soft tops make it a standout in its segment. The SUV has consistently performed well in urban markets while remaining highly capable in rural and adventure-focused segments, strengthening Mahindra’s brand image as a leader in off-road SUVs.

The recent price hike of ₹20,000 across most variants reflects the company’s response to increased material costs and inflation, while maintaining product value and feature-rich offerings. Despite the increase, the Mahindra Thar remains competitive in its segment, offering unique off-road capability, styling, and brand loyalty that few SUVs in India can match.

With this price revision effective immediately, Mahindra continues to attract buyers seeking a mix of style, adventure, and reliability. The Thar remains one of India’s most recognizable SUVs, representing both performance and personality in the lifestyle SUV segment.

The price adjustment comes amid rising production costs, input price inflation, and increasing demand for the rugged lifestyle SUV in the domestic market.
