New Delhi — India’s leading automobile manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki, has announced that prices of its cars will increase starting tomorrow, April 8, 2025. The company cited rising input costs, including raw materials and logistics, as the primary reason for the upward revision in prices.
The price hike will be applicable across models, from entry-level hatchbacks like the Alto and WagonR to popular sedans and SUVs such as the Dzire, Brezza, and Grand Vitara. However, the company clarified that the hike will vary depending on the model and variant, without disclosing exact figures.
In an official statement, Maruti Suzuki said, “Over the past year, the cost of manufacturing vehicles has increased significantly due to inflation in commodity prices and supply chain challenges. While we have tried to absorb most of the impact, it has become necessary to pass on some of the burden to customers.”
Auto dealers across the country have reported a noticeable surge in last-minute bookings as customers rush to lock in the current prices. “In the last 48 hours, we’ve seen a sharp spike in inquiries and confirmed bookings. People want to beat the price hike,” said a Maruti dealer in Mumbai.
This marks the second price hike by Maruti Suzuki in the 2024–2025 fiscal year. Industry analysts say the trend is reflective of broader pressures faced by automakers globally, particularly in the wake of fluctuating global commodity markets and increased freight charges.
Experts believe that while Maruti’s vehicles are known for affordability and mileage, repeated price hikes could begin to impact sales volumes, especially in the budget and mid-range segments.
Customers considering purchasing a new Maruti Suzuki vehicle are advised to check with local dealerships for specific model-wise changes and finalize their bookings as soon as possible.
With this development, industry watchers will be closely monitoring how the price adjustment affects Maruti’s sales figures in the coming months.
