Maruti Suzuki's premium MPV, the Invicto, has hit a roadblock in the competitive family car segment. Despite the increasing preference for spacious and feature-rich family cars in India, the Invicto's sales figures have fallen short of expectations.
Experts attribute the challenge to fierce competition from other established players in the premium MPV market, such as the Toyota Innova Hycross, which boasts a loyal customer base and a strong market presence. Price sensitivity in this segment has also been a key factor, with potential buyers considering more affordable alternatives.
Maruti Suzuki introduced the Invicto to tap into the growing demand for family cars, leveraging its spacious interiors and modern features. However, the brand's higher price point and reliance on a hybrid drivetrain—positioned as a green alternative—haven't resonated equally with all consumer groups.
While the overall demand for MPVs is on the rise in India, Maruti Suzuki's challenge will be to refine its positioning, address market feedback, and possibly introduce more variants to appeal to a broader audience. Only time will tell if the Invicto can carve a niche in the fiercely competitive premium MPV market.
