Maruti Suzuki India has updated its premium MPV, the XL6, with a significant safety enhancement. The automaker has introduced six airbags as standard across all variants of the vehicle, marking a key step forward in the company’s focus on passenger safety. With this update, the XL6 joins the list of vehicles in the Indian market that offer enhanced occupant protection as part of their base package.

The decision to make six airbags standard comes in line with growing customer awareness around safety and a push for better safety standards in India. The upgraded XL6 now features dual front, side, and curtain airbags on all trims, which will offer added safety for occupants in the event of a collision.

Alongside this upgrade, Maruti Suzuki has announced a revision in the pricing of the XL6. The new prices reflect the inclusion of the additional safety equipment and range from Rs 11.66 lakh to Rs 14.66 lakh (ex-showroom). The price increase varies between Rs 15,000 and Rs 25,000 depending on the variant selected. This adjustment ensures that the vehicle remains competitive while offering more value in terms of safety.

The XL6 continues to be offered with a 1.5-litre K-series Dual Jet petrol engine, paired with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The powertrain is tuned for both performance and fuel efficiency, making it suitable for family use and urban commuting. The car is also available with Maruti’s Smart Hybrid technology, enhancing overall mileage and environmental performance.

In terms of design and features, the XL6 retains its distinctive SUV-inspired styling with a bold front grille, LED headlamps, dual-tone alloy wheels, and roof rails. The interiors offer a premium feel with captain seats in the second row, leatherette upholstery, and a seven-inch SmartPlay Pro infotainment system with connected car tech and voice control.

Maruti Suzuki has also retained several features that have made the XL6 popular among urban families and premium MPV buyers. These include automatic climate control, cruise control, rear parking camera, and ventilated front seats in higher trims. The infotainment system supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, adding to the tech appeal of the vehicle.

With the inclusion of six airbags, the XL6 becomes one of the safer offerings in its segment. It is also part of Maruti Suzuki’s strategy to equip more vehicles with essential safety features, especially as regulatory norms evolve and customer preferences shift toward safer cars.

The updated Maruti Suzuki XL6 will continue to be sold through the Nexa dealership network and is expected to attract buyers looking for a stylish, comfortable, and now even safer family vehicle. Bookings for the updated XL6 are open, and deliveries are expected to begin shortly. This move strengthens Maruti Suzuki’s position in the premium MPV market while reinforcing its commitment to passenger safety.
