German luxury automaker Mercedes‑Benz has officially introduced the CLA Electric in the Indian market, positioning it as the brand’s most accessible electric vehicle to date and a key part of its ongoing electrification strategy. The announcement marks a significant milestone for Mercedes‑Benz India as the company aims to broaden its electric vehicle lineup and appeal to customers seeking premium luxury EV options.

Bookings for the all‑new Mercedes‑Benz CLA Electric are scheduled to open on March 10, 2026, with the official launch and deliveries expected to follow in April 2026. The CLA Electric will be offered in India in a single variant, the CLA 250+, which is built on a new modular electric platform designed to support the next generation of Mercedes‑Benz electric models.

At the heart of the CLA Electric is an 85.5 kWh battery pack paired with a rear axle‑mounted electric motor that produces around 268 bhp and significant torque. The advanced 800‑volt electrical architecture enables rapid charging and improved efficiency, helping the vehicle achieve an impressive claimed WLTP range of up to 792 km on a single charge. According to company specifications this range positions the CLA Electric among the longest‑range EVs in its segment.

Charging performance is also a highlight of the new sedan. The 800‑volt system supports up to 240 kW DC fast charging, which can replenish approximately 400 km of range in about 20 minutes under optimal conditions. The inclusion of a rare two‑speed transmission further enhances efficiency and performance across city and highway driving conditions.

In terms of design the Mercedes‑Benz CLA Electric retains a sleek and aerodynamic coupe‑like silhouette with signature styling elements such as an illuminated front grille featuring 142 integrated star motifs, flush door handles and 18‑inch alloy wheels. The vehicle measures around 4,723 mm in length with a 2,790 mm wheelbase, offering a balanced combination of exterior appeal and interior space. Practicality is also addressed with a 405‑litre boot and an additional 101‑litre front trunk (frunk), providing flexibility for luggage and daily use.

Inside the cabin the CLA Electric features a contemporary and connected interior. A 14‑inch touchscreen infotainment system powered by the latest software and an AI‑driven MBUX Virtual Assistant with ChatGPT and Google Gemini support enhances the digital experience. The driver’s instrument cluster includes a separate 10.25‑inch display, while wireless charging heated and massaging seats and multiple USB‑C fast‑charge ports add to the comfort and convenience.

Safety remains a priority with advanced driver assistance systems including adaptive cruise control lane‑keep assist blind‑spot monitoring and multiple airbags. The CLA Electric has also achieved a strong safety rating in European crash tests, underscoring its focus on occupant protection.

The Mercedes‑Benz CLA Electric is expected to be competitively priced in the ₹55 lakh to ₹60 lakh range (ex‑showroom), making it one of the more attainable luxury EV options in the Indian market. With its combination of long range strong performance advanced technology and premium features the CLA Electric is poised to attract buyers looking for a luxury EV that delivers both efficiency and style.

As bookings begin next month, anticipation is building among EV enthusiasts and luxury car buyers in India awaiting delivery of the new Mercedes‑Benz CLA Electric.
