While MG has not issued a detailed explanation for the price revision, industry sources point to rising production costs and an increased focus on maintaining quality and technological advancements.

MG Motor India has revised the pricing of its compact SUV, the MG Astor, with a uniform price increase across all variants. The new prices now begin at Rs 11.48 lakh for the base model, making it costlier than before. This development comes as the automobile industry continues to deal with rising input costs, regulatory changes, and shifting consumer demand.

The MG Astor has been one of the key models for the brand in India, known for its advanced features including Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), AI-powered personal assistant, and a premium design. Available in multiple trims with both petrol manual and automatic transmission options, the Astor appeals to a broad audience looking for a feature-rich urban SUV.

According to the updated pricing, all variants of the Astor have seen a hike ranging between Rs 15,000 and Rs 35,000 depending on the model and configuration. The top-end Savvy variant, which comes equipped with the ADAS suite and other premium features, now crosses the Rs 18 lakh mark on-road in several cities.

While MG has not issued a detailed explanation for the price revision, industry sources point to rising production costs and an increased focus on maintaining quality and technological advancements. Additionally, stricter safety and emission regulations are believed to have contributed to the pricing change.

Despite the hike, the MG Astor continues to be positioned as a value-for-money product in its segment. It competes directly with other compact SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, and Skoda Kushaq. What sets the Astor apart is its emphasis on smart technology and an AI-enhanced driving experience, including features like adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and emergency braking.

The SUV is powered by two petrol engine options — a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated unit and a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine. While the former is mated to a 5-speed manual or CVT gearbox, the latter comes paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The fuel efficiency, comfortable ride quality, and strong feature list have made the Astor a popular choice in urban areas.

Customers planning to purchase the MG Astor should be aware of the updated price structure and are advised to check with their nearest MG dealership for variant-specific pricing and availability. Booking amounts and delivery timelines remain unchanged as of now.

This price hike marks the second revision for the MG Astor this year, and further adjustments could follow based on market conditions and input costs. With the festive season approaching, buyers may still find attractive financing or exchange offers despite the revised pricing.

MG Motor India is expected to continue its focus on expanding its SUV lineup while maintaining a balance between technology, performance, and affordability.

Available in multiple trims with both petrol manual and automatic transmission options, the Astor appeals to a broad audience looking for a feature-rich urban SUV.
