Honda is gearing up to launch the new-generation Amaze sedan in the Indian market. Recently, the 3rd-gen Honda Amaze test mule was spotted undergoing testing in the country.
The overall silhouette of the new Amaze closely resembles the current 2nd Gen model. Even the door frames appear quite similar. Future spy shots are expected to reveal more design elements of this upcoming sub-4m sedan from Honda. The presence of emission testing equipment on the vehicle hints at the possibility of CNG powertrains or a new powertrain setup compared to the current model.
Design and Features:
The 3rd Gen Honda Amaze appears to draw design inspiration from Honda's current global car lineup. Among sub-4m sedans, the Amaze is noted for its well-proportioned execution compared to many rivals. Inside, it is likely to feature a new dashboard and possibly a larger free-standing infotainment system.
While the current Honda Amaze is well-equipped, the new model could benefit from improved perceived quality and an updated features list. Sensible additions like rear AC vents, leatherette upholstery options, and a front armrest would be welcome enhancements for the 3rd Gen model.
Powertrain Options:
Regarding powertrains, it's unlikely that the 1.0L turbo petrol engine from the global lineup will be offered. Instead, familiar engines such as the 1.2L 4-cylinder NA petrol engine or the 1.5L NA petrol engine from the City sedan and Elevate are expected. While using the latter would void B Segment tax benefits, it would streamline Honda's portfolio in India by relying on one platform and one engine.
Transmission options for the new Amaze will include both manual and CVT variants. Although an official launch timeline hasn't been revealed yet, it's speculated that the new Amaze might debut by late 2024 or early 2025.
Stay tuned for more updates on the new-generation Honda Amaze as more details become available.
