🇮🇳 Focus on Indian Market Renault is betting big on the Indian market’s shift toward sustainable mobility.

Renault is all set to bring back one of its most iconic models to the Indian market — the Renault Duster. After being discontinued in 2022, the new-generation Duster is expected to arrive with significant upgrades, and the most notable among them is the introduction of a hybrid powertrain.

According to industry insiders, the upcoming Duster will be based on Renault-Nissan’s CMF-B modular platform, the same platform that will underpin the much-anticipated Bigster, a three-row SUV offering. This move is a strategic attempt by Renault to streamline production and reduce costs while bringing in globally proven technologies to India.

Hybrid Tech Likely for India

The hybrid powertrain, already in use in global models like the Renault Arkana and Captur, could find its way into the new Duster. The system may include a 1.6-litre petrol engine paired with an electric motor and a small battery pack. This setup is expected to deliver better fuel economy, lower emissions, and smoother performance, catering to environmentally conscious buyers.

Though full specifications are yet to be confirmed for India, Renault could offer multiple engine options, including:

A mild-hybrid petrol

A full-hybrid version

A turbocharged petrol-only variant

 Design and Features

Spy shots and teasers hint at a bolder, SUV-centric design with rugged lines, LED lighting, roof rails, and improved ground clearance. Inside, expect a modern dashboard, a large touchscreen infotainment system, connected car tech, and enhanced safety features like ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) in top variants.

🇮🇳 Focus on Indian Market

Renault is betting big on the Indian market’s shift toward sustainable mobility. The hybrid Duster could act as a transitional product for consumers who are not yet ready to move to fully electric vehicles. The brand also plans to localize production to keep pricing competitive — a crucial factor in the mid-size SUV segment.

Launch Timeline and Competition

The new Renault Duster is expected to debut in India by late 2025 or early 2026. Once launched, it will compete with popular SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, and the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.

With its rugged legacy and a modern hybrid twist, the new Duster could make a strong comeback and regain a prominent position in the Indian SUV landscape.
