The Chennai facility’s local production will also enable the SUV to be exported to international markets, strengthening Renault’s global presence.

Renault has introduced the Bridger Concept globally, showcasing a new sub-4-metre SUV aimed at markets like India. Designed to sit between the entry-level Kiger and mid-size Duster, the Bridger promises a combination of rugged style, practicality, and modern technology.

One of the most striking features of the Bridger Concept is its rugged and boxy design. Renault has retained a tall, upright stance with slim LED “Renault” lettering integrated into the front grille. The externally mounted spare wheel on the tailgate adds to the SUV’s aggressive and adventurous character. Additional design highlights include a large silver skid plate, prominent wheel arches, 18-inch alloy wheels, and a muscular bumper, giving the vehicle a robust road presence that appeals to SUV buyers seeking both style and utility.

The Bridger Concept is built on Renault’s R-GMP (Renault Group Modular Platform), the same platform underpinning the new Duster. The modular architecture offers the flexibility to accommodate multiple powertrain options. While the production model is expected to feature the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine from the Kiger delivering around 100 hp, Renault may introduce a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine as well. The platform is future-ready, allowing mild-hybrid and fully electric variants depending on market demand and regulatory requirements.

Interior space and comfort are key strengths of the Bridger Concept. Thanks to the R-GMP platform, the SUV is expected to offer class-leading knee room of 200 mm and a boot capacity of approximately 400 litres, positioning it among the most practical sub-4-metre SUVs. The slightly elevated seating gives passengers a commanding view of the road, enhancing the traditional SUV driving experience. The design aims to address the common limitation of compact SUVs in India—restricted interior space—while improving cabin usability and passenger comfort.

The Bridger Concept is set to be a made-in-India product, with production taking place at Renault’s Chennai facility. Renault already manufactures popular models such as the Kiger, Triber, and Duster at this plant. The Chennai facility’s local production will also enable the SUV to be exported to international markets, strengthening Renault’s global presence.

Expected to launch around 2027, the Bridger Concept is positioned to attract buyers seeking a versatile and modern SUV with robust styling, flexible powertrain options, and improved space and comfort. Renault’s focus on design, practicality, and future-ready technology aims to make the Bridger a strong competitor in the growing sub-4-metre SUV segment in India and beyond.
