Rolls-Royce’s Bespoke service allows clients to customise every detail of their vehicle, from paint colours and embroidery to interior design and even commissioned artwork in the dashboard gallery.

The year 2025 marks a significant chapter in automotive history as Rolls-Royce Motor Cars celebrates 100 years of the Phantom, its most iconic and enduring model. Launched in 1925, the Phantom has evolved into a global symbol of prestige, excellence, and bespoke luxury, serving heads of state, royalty, business magnates, and cultural icons alike.

From its inception, the Phantom has reflected Rolls-Royce’s philosophy of engineering perfection and handcrafted elegance. Known for its smooth ride, powerful performance, and unmatched refinement, each generation of the Phantom has represented a new standard in the luxury car segment.

The Legacy Begins

The original Rolls-Royce Phantom was introduced in 1925 as a replacement for the Silver Ghost. The New Phantom, as it was called then, featured a robust six-cylinder engine and advancements in comfort and handling. Over the years, seven more generations have followed, each pushing the boundaries of automotive design and technology.

Notable figures like Queen Elizabeth II, John Lennon, and various global dignitaries have owned and travelled in different Phantom models, cementing the car’s status as a hallmark of distinction.

Design and Engineering Evolution

The current model, the Phantom VIII, features a 6.75-litre twin-turbo V12 engine, an aluminium spaceframe, and advanced suspension for an incredibly smooth ride. Every detail, from the handcrafted interior to the near-silent cabin, is carefully curated to meet the unique preferences of each customer.

The Starlight Headliner, bespoke wood veneers, and hand-stitched leather seats are just a few of the elements that distinguish the Phantom as more than just a car — it is a personal expression of luxury.

Bespoke Personalisation

No two Phantoms are exactly alike. Rolls-Royce’s Bespoke service allows clients to customise every detail of their vehicle, from paint colours and embroidery to interior design and even commissioned artwork in the dashboard gallery.

To mark the centenary, Rolls-Royce has unveiled limited-edition Phantom models inspired by key milestones from the past century. These collector's items integrate historic design cues with contemporary features, bridging tradition and innovation.

Looking Ahead

While the Phantom celebrates 100 years, Rolls-Royce is also focused on the future. The brand has entered the electric vehicle space with the Spectre, and similar innovations are expected to influence the next generation of Phantom models. Despite these changes, the commitment to quality, detail, and exclusivity remains unchanged.

CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös commented, “The Phantom is more than just a car — it is the cornerstone of Rolls-Royce’s heritage and vision. Its legacy will continue to shape the future of luxury mobility.”

As the Phantom turns 100, it continues to be the definitive symbol of luxury, representing a century of craftsmanship, status, and engineering mastery in the automotive world.

Despite these changes, the commitment to quality, detail, and exclusivity remains unchanged.
