With this launch, Volkswagen aims to strengthen its position in the upper end of the mainstream SUV market where buyers increasingly seek larger vehicles equipped with advanced features and enhanced comfort.

Volkswagen has expanded its India portfolio with the launch of the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line at an introductory price of Rs 46.99 lakh ex showroom. The new model becomes the brand’s flagship SUV in the country and re establishes its presence in the premium three row SUV segment.

The Tayron R Line is a seven seat sport utility vehicle that is locally assembled in India. It replaces the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace, which previously served as the company’s three row offering. With this launch, Volkswagen aims to strengthen its position in the upper end of the mainstream SUV market where buyers increasingly seek larger vehicles equipped with advanced features and enhanced comfort.

Positioned above the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line, the Tayron R Line is offered in a single fully loaded variant. The company has focused on providing a comprehensive feature list, including premium interior appointments, advanced infotainment systems, and multiple safety technologies. The three row layout is designed to accommodate larger families while maintaining a premium driving experience.

In terms of design, the Tayron R Line follows Volkswagen’s global styling cues with a bold front fascia, signature LED lighting elements, and distinctive R Line detailing. The SUV is built to meet the expectations of customers who prefer a blend of practicality and performance oriented aesthetics.

Under the hood, the Tayron R Line is expected to share powertrain technology with other premium Volkswagen models available in India, ensuring refined performance and compliance with current emission standards. The company has not positioned the vehicle as a mass market product but rather as a premium offering targeted at discerning buyers looking for brand value and advanced engineering.

The launch reflects Volkswagen’s strategy to focus on high value models in India rather than pursuing volume driven segments. By assembling the Tayron locally, the manufacturer aims to optimise pricing and supply chain efficiency while maintaining global quality standards.

The premium three row SUV category in India has witnessed steady growth in recent years, with increasing demand for spacious vehicles that combine luxury features with everyday usability. The introduction of the Tayron R Line is expected to intensify competition in this segment, especially among international brands offering similar configurations.

Bookings for the new SUV are open at authorised Volkswagen dealerships, and deliveries are anticipated to commence shortly. The company is likely to highlight the Tayron R Line’s advanced safety systems, connected car technology, and comfort features as part of its marketing strategy.

With the Tayron R Line, Volkswagen signals its renewed focus on premium utility vehicles in India and its commitment to expanding the brand’s flagship lineup in the country.
