French performance brand Alpine, a subsidiary of Renault, is preparing to reveal its much-anticipated A390 electric SUV during a world premiere event celebrating 70 years of automotive excellence. The event will mark not only the debut of the A390 but also a new chapter in Alpine’s transition toward sustainable mobility and electric performance.
The A390 will be the brand’s first all-electric SUV, developed under Renault Group’s electric strategy. It forms a key part of Alpine’s electrification plan, which includes launching multiple electric models over the next few years. The A390 is positioned as a global model, targeted at both European and international markets, including possibilities of entry into EV-enthusiastic regions such as Asia and North America.
Design-wise, the A390 is expected to retain Alpine's signature sporty aesthetics while integrating modern, aerodynamic styling suited for an SUV. Though exact specifications are yet to be revealed, early indications suggest the A390 will offer dual-motor all-wheel-drive capability, impressive acceleration, and a range exceeding 500 km on a single charge. The SUV will be based on Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance’s CMF-EV platform, the same architecture that underpins models like the Renault Megane E-Tech and Nissan Ariya.
Interior features will likely include a high-tech digital cockpit, sustainable materials, and software-based customizations. Connectivity, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and over-the-air updates are expected to be standard, positioning the A390 as a premium, technology-forward SUV.
The global premiere will also celebrate Alpine’s 70-year legacy in motorsport and performance engineering. From its early rally successes to its recent presence in Formula 1, Alpine has consistently pushed boundaries in automotive innovation. The unveiling of the A390 symbolizes the brand’s shift from combustion-powered sportscars to high-performance electric mobility solutions.
Laurent Rossi, CEO of Alpine, has expressed that the A390 is not just a new model but a strategic step in defining the company’s future. It embodies Alpine's core values of agility, sportiness, and precision, now translated into the EV space. The A390 is expected to go into production by 2025, with full technical details and pricing to be disclosed closer to the commercial launch.
Alpine’s entry into the electric SUV segment comes at a time when demand for performance-oriented EVs is rising. Consumers are increasingly looking for vehicles that combine green technology with dynamic driving experiences, and the A390 seeks to fulfill that need.
As Alpine prepares for its global debut, the automotive world is watching closely. The A390 may well become a milestone in Alpine’s journey and a strong contender in the electric SUV market.
