With a claimed range of 80 kilometers on a single charge, it is ideal for city use, daily office commutes, or even last-mile delivery purposes.

Ampere, the electric two-wheeler brand under Greaves Electric Mobility, has expanded its entry-level portfolio with the launch of the Reo 80, an affordable electric scooter designed for short-distance urban commuting. The new model is priced at just ₹59,900 (ex-showroom), making it one of the most budget-friendly EVs currently available in India.

The Ampere Reo 80 is positioned as a no-frills, practical alternative to petrol-powered scooters in the 100cc segment. With a claimed range of 80 kilometers on a single charge, it is ideal for city use, daily office commutes, or even last-mile delivery purposes. The top speed is limited to 25 km/h, which classifies it as a low-speed electric scooter, meaning it does not require a driving license or registration in many Indian states — a major plus for students and new riders.

The scooter features a 250W BLDC motor paired with a lead-acid battery, which can be charged in approximately 6–8 hours using a regular home socket. Its lightweight body structure ensures ease of maneuverability in congested traffic and tight parking spaces. The Reo 80 also comes with basic utility features like a digital speedometer, comfortable seat, telescopic front suspension, and under-seat storage.

In terms of design, the Reo 80 carries a simple and functional look, aimed at users who prioritize efficiency and low running costs over flashy styling. It will be offered in multiple color options to appeal to younger and budget-conscious consumers.

With rising fuel prices and increasing awareness about eco-friendly transportation, Ampere expects the Reo 80 to gain traction among cost-sensitive buyers in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. The brand has also expanded its dealership and service network across India, currently present in over 500 cities, to ensure better reach and support.

Ampere is also offering attractive EMI options and after-sales packages to further make the Reo 80 accessible. Given its affordable pricing, low maintenance requirements, and exemption from licensing and registration, the scooter is expected to see significant adoption in the entry-level EV segment.

With this launch, Ampere continues its mission to democratize electric mobility in India and cater to the growing demand for sustainable and economical transport solutions.
