Hyundai is preparing to expand its SUV portfolio in India with the upcoming Bayon, and the company has now released another teaser highlighting the vehicle’s rear design. The new teaser provides a closer look at the styling approach of the upcoming SUV as Hyundai continues its gradual reveal campaign ahead of the India launch.
The Bayon has been introduced by Hyundai Motor India as an Intelligent Utility Vehicle. The company says the SUV has been developed with a focus on technology, safety, comfort, performance and design. Hyundai has also confirmed that the Bayon will be offered for Indian customers with a petrol powertrain and both manual and Intelligent Variable Transmission options.
Bookings for the Hyundai Bayon are already open. Customers can reserve the upcoming SUV through Hyundai’s official website or at authorised Hyundai dealerships by paying an initial booking amount of Rs 11,000. Hyundai announced the commencement of bookings on September 23, 2026. The company has said that deliveries and further details will be communicated at the time of launch.
The latest teaser focuses on the rear section of the Bayon. Hyundai’s official Bayon design material shows a modern rear treatment with distinctive lighting elements. The company describes the overall design as part of its evolving Art of Steel design philosophy, which uses sculpted surfaces, sharp character lines and defined proportions to create a strong SUV appearance.
The Bayon is expected to be positioned between the Venue and Creta in Hyundai’s Indian SUV range. Automotive reports describe it as a crossover style SUV with a length of around 4.2 metres. The vehicle is being developed for urban customers who want SUV proportions while retaining everyday usability.
At the front, previously revealed design information points to a sculpted bonnet, pronounced fender volumes and Hyundai’s H Edge lighting signature. The vehicle also features geometric wheel arches, wraparound door cladding and bridge type roof rails. The rear design follows the same modern styling direction, with a slim lighting treatment and a prominent roof spoiler visible in recently reported details.
Technology is another major focus of the upcoming Bayon. Hyundai has confirmed that the Indian model will feature an in built generative AI voice assistant. The system is intended to provide a more natural way for occupants to interact with connected vehicle functions. Hyundai is also highlighting the model’s safety engineering, stating that the Bayon is built on the Global K Enhanced Platform and engineered for five star Indian safety standards.
The interior is also expected to follow a technology focused design theme. Recent reports indicate that the India specification Bayon could feature twin connected displays and physical controls for the air conditioning system. However, customers should wait for Hyundai’s official launch announcement for confirmation of the complete feature list and variant wise equipment.
Hyundai has confirmed that the Bayon will use a petrol powertrain with manual and IVT transmission options. Some automotive reports have indicated that the SUV could use a 1.5 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, while a factory fitted CNG option has also been reported. These additional powertrain details should be treated as expected information until Hyundai officially confirms the final India specification.
The upcoming SUV is expected to be launched during the festive season. Hyundai has not yet announced all final details, including the complete variant line up and final prices. The company’s official booking announcement confirms that more information will be provided closer to the launch.
The Bayon will therefore become an important addition to Hyundai’s Indian SUV portfolio. With its new exterior design, connected technology, safety focus and multiple transmission choices, the model is being prepared specifically for the changing requirements of Indian customers. The latest rear design teaser gives potential buyers a better understanding of the SUV’s styling before its official launch.
For customers who have already booked the vehicle, the final price, variant details, equipment list and delivery schedule will be important information to watch for when Hyundai officially launches the Bayon in India.
