Kia India has officially launched the all-new Carens Clavis EV in the Indian market, priced from Rs 17.99 lakh (ex-showroom). With an impressive claimed range of 490 kilometres, this new electric SUV is expected to strengthen Kia’s presence in the fast-growing electric vehicle segment in India. Positioned as a family-friendly urban electric vehicle, the Clavis EV combines practicality with cutting-edge technology and environmental sustainability.
The Carens Clavis EV is built on Kia’s dedicated electric platform and is designed to cater to both personal and family usage. The SUV features a modern and aerodynamic exterior with a signature closed grille, LED headlamps, sleek tail-lamps, and newly designed alloy wheels that enhance both aesthetics and efficiency. Kia has also introduced dual-tone paint options to appeal to younger and style-conscious buyers.
Under the hood, the Clavis EV comes equipped with a high-capacity battery pack that delivers a certified range of up to 490 kilometres on a single charge under standard testing conditions. The SUV supports both standard and fast charging. With a DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in less than an hour, making it convenient for urban commuting and long-distance travel.
Inside the cabin, the Clavis EV offers a premium and spacious interior layout. It comes with a large digital instrument cluster, a touchscreen infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity, climate control, and ventilated front seats. Kia has also introduced a connected car platform in the Clavis EV, offering features such as remote climate control, charging status monitoring, vehicle location tracking, and over-the-air updates.
Safety is a major focus for Kia with the Clavis EV. The SUV includes features such as six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill start assist, rear parking sensors with camera, and ISOFIX child seat mounts. Higher variants also offer advanced driver assistance systems including lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and forward collision warning.
The Carens Clavis EV will be offered in multiple trims, allowing customers to choose the right variant based on their needs and budget. The top-end variant is expected to include a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, leatherette upholstery, and a premium sound system.
Kia India has confirmed that deliveries will begin in the coming weeks. The vehicle will initially be available in metro cities and select Tier 1 locations, with expansion planned as charging infrastructure grows. Bookings are now open at Kia dealerships and through the brand’s official website.
The launch of the Carens Clavis EV comes at a time when the Indian electric vehicle market is gaining momentum, supported by government subsidies and increased consumer awareness. With competitive pricing, strong range, and feature-rich packaging, Kia aims to position the Clavis EV as a practical alternative for buyers seeking an electric SUV without compromising on space, performance, or comfort.
