Mercedes-Benz has officially confirmed that the all-new CLA electric sedan will be launched in India in April 2026. The premium electric vehicle is positioned as a key product for the company’s strategy in the Indian luxury car market and will compete with other high-end electric sedans, offering a combination of long-range performance, premium design, and advanced technology.
The CLA electric will be available in two powertrain variants. The entry-level CLA 250+ with EQ Technology is claimed to deliver a driving range of up to 792 kilometres on a single charge. The higher-spec CLA 350 4MATIC with EQ Technology comes with a slightly lower range of 770 kilometres, but offers more powerful performance for those seeking an enhanced driving experience. Both variants use a newly developed rear-mounted permanent magnet electric motor paired with an 85 kWh battery pack, ensuring long-distance driving capabilities while maintaining Mercedes-Benz’s high standards of efficiency and reliability.
The electric sedan retains the signature styling cues of the CLA lineup, including its sleek coupe-like silhouette, aerodynamic lines, and premium interior finish. Inside, the CLA EV is expected to feature advanced digital displays, a high-quality infotainment system with MBUX interface, and a host of safety and driver-assistance technologies, in line with Mercedes-Benz’s focus on luxury, comfort, and convenience.
Industry experts highlight the CLA electric’s long-range capability as a major selling point for Indian buyers, especially in the premium EV segment. With a range exceeding 700 kilometres, the sedan addresses common concerns about electric vehicle range in India, making it suitable for intercity travel and daily commuting without frequent charging stops. The 85 kWh battery pack also supports fast charging, enabling quicker turnaround times for long-distance journeys.
Mercedes-Benz’s entry into the premium electric sedan market in India reflects the growing interest among affluent consumers in sustainable mobility. With government incentives, increasing charging infrastructure, and rising awareness of EV benefits, the Indian luxury car market is increasingly receptive to electric alternatives. The CLA electric is expected to strengthen Mercedes-Benz’s product portfolio and reinforce its commitment to electrification and future-ready mobility solutions.
The exact launch date will be announced closer to April 2026, and the company is likely to unveil pricing and variant details at that time. Mercedes-Benz aims to offer a compelling combination of long-range performance, cutting-edge technology, and luxury design to attract premium buyers and enhance its presence in India’s EV segment.
Overall, the CLA electric sedan marks an important step for Mercedes-Benz in India, signaling the company’s commitment to expanding its electric mobility offerings and delivering a premium EV experience tailored to Indian customers.
