Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has highlighted the vast potential for India to become a leading exporter of electric bikes. Speaking at a recent event, Gadkari emphasized that India’s growing expertise in electric vehicle (EV) technology, combined with favorable manufacturing conditions, presents a significant opportunity for the country to tap into the expanding global market for electric bikes.
Gadkari pointed out that with the increasing demand for eco-friendly transportation worldwide, India's electric vehicle sector is well-positioned to play a key role in global EV exports. He stressed that the government's focus on developing sustainable mobility solutions, along with incentives for EV manufacturers, is helping Indian companies to scale up production and meet international standards.
India has already seen a surge in domestic electric bike production, with several homegrown companies making strides in design, innovation, and affordability. Gadkari stated that by focusing on export potential, India can not only boost its economy but also contribute to global efforts to reduce carbon emissions and promote green transportation solutions.
He also called for increased investment in research and development, battery technology, and charging infrastructure to further support the electric bike sector. With the global shift towards greener transportation, Gadkari believes that India’s strong manufacturing base, combined with government support, positions the country to become a major player in electric bike exports, benefitting both the domestic market and the global EV ecosystem.
