The company claims up to 70 litres of total storage space, which is aimed at customers who use their scooters for family and daily household requirements.

Simple Energy has expanded its electric scooter portfolio in India with the launch of the Simple Wave. The new model is positioned as a family oriented electric scooter and is aimed at customers looking for a practical electric two wheeler with a combination of range, storage and everyday usability.

The Simple Wave has been introduced at an introductory price of Rs 1,09,999, ex showroom. The company is offering the scooter in multiple configurations, allowing buyers to select different battery capacities and range options according to their daily requirements and budget. Deliveries are scheduled to begin from September 25, 2026. 

Simple Wave Price and Variants

The Simple Wave is available across three broad variants and six configurations. The range uses four different battery capacities, giving customers several options between the entry level and higher range versions.

The battery options include 2.2 kWh, 2.7 kWh, 3.7 kWh and 5 kWh. Depending on the configuration, the claimed IDC range starts at 110 km and goes up to 243 km. The range figures are based on the Indian Driving Cycle certification and may differ from the distance achieved in normal road conditions.

The introductory starting price of Rs 1,09,999 makes the Wave the most affordable electric scooter in Simple Energy's current portfolio. However, buyers should note that the final on road price can be higher after insurance, registration, taxes and other applicable charges. 

Battery and Range

Battery capacity is one of the major highlights of the Simple Wave. The entry 2.2 kWh battery is claimed to provide an IDC range of 110 km. The 2.7 kWh battery increases the claimed range to 132 km, while the 3.7 kWh battery offers up to 171 km.

At the top of the range, the 5 kWh battery is claimed to deliver up to 243 km of IDC range. This gives customers the flexibility to choose between a lower purchase price and a higher range configuration.

The claimed range should not be treated as the guaranteed distance in everyday riding. Actual range can depend on factors such as riding speed, traffic, road conditions, rider weight, temperature, tyre pressure and use of different riding modes.

Performance and Top Speed

The range topping Simple Wave+ is equipped with a 6.4 kW PMSM motor and has a claimed top speed of 90 km/h. The scooter is also reported to accelerate from 0 to 40 km/h in around 3.3 seconds.

The different versions of the Wave have varying performance specifications depending on their battery and motor configuration. Simple Energy has designed the scooter primarily for everyday family use rather than positioning it as a performance focused electric scooter.

The combination of a practical riding position, multiple riding modes and different battery choices allows the Wave to target a wider range of customers in India's growing electric two wheeler market. 

Storage Capacity

Storage is another key feature of the Simple Wave. The company claims up to 70 litres of total storage space, which is aimed at customers who use their scooters for family and daily household requirements.

The storage arrangement includes a large under seat compartment along with additional storage areas. Reports indicate that the scooter has around 63 litres of under seat storage, a 3 litre glovebox and a 4 litre auxiliary compartment referred to as the Pill.

This large storage capacity could be particularly useful for carrying shopping bags, helmets and other everyday items. It also helps the Wave compete in the practical family scooter segment, where storage capacity is an important consideration for buyers. 

Riding Modes and Features

The Simple Wave comes with multiple riding modes designed to provide different levels of performance and efficiency. The available modes include Ride, Eco and ECOX across the range, while higher variants also receive a Sport mode.

The scooter is also equipped with a range of technology and convenience features depending on the selected configuration. Higher versions receive additional display and connectivity equipment.

Simple Energy has focused on making the Wave a practical scooter for regular commuting rather than relying only on performance figures. Its family oriented design, large storage area and range of battery options are intended to make it suitable for different types of urban riders.

Design and Practicality

The Simple Wave follows a more conventional family scooter design compared with the company's sportier electric models. The focus is on ease of use, passenger comfort and practical everyday operation.

The scooter has a 920 mm long seat and a claimed payload capacity of 150 kg. It also offers a 775 mm seat height and 175 mm ground clearance. Simple Energy has designed the scooter with Indian road conditions in mind and claims a water wading capability of up to 300 mm. 

These specifications could make the Wave suitable for customers who regularly travel through urban traffic and varying road conditions.

Charging and Ownership

Simple Energy has also focused on simplifying charging with the Wave platform. Different versions use different battery configurations, allowing buyers to select a model based on their expected daily usage.

The larger battery versions are likely to appeal to customers who travel longer distances regularly, while the smaller battery configurations could be suitable for shorter urban commutes. Buyers should compare the charging requirements and equipment included with each variant before making a purchase decision.

The company is also positioning the Wave as a practical electric scooter with an ownership proposition aimed at everyday users. As with other electric vehicles, the overall ownership cost will depend on electricity rates, usage patterns, charging arrangements and maintenance requirements.

Delivery Details

Simple Energy has announced that deliveries of the Wave are scheduled to begin from September 25, 2026. The scooter will be available in multiple configurations, with availability potentially varying by location and selected variant.

Customers interested in purchasing the Wave should check the applicable price, availability, booking terms, delivery timeline and on road cost in their city before completing the purchase. 
