With increasing consumer focus on safety, this rating enhances the Harrier EV’s appeal among buyers seeking not only innovation and sustainability but also secure mobility.

The Tata Harrier EV has received a 5-star safety rating in crash tests conducted by Bharat NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme), reaffirming Tata Motors’ commitment to vehicle safety. The rating places the electric SUV among the top performers in the Indian automotive market in terms of structural integrity, occupant protection, and crashworthiness.

The Harrier EV’s performance was assessed under Bharat NCAP’s testing protocols, which are designed to evaluate both adult and child occupant safety. According to the results, the electric SUV demonstrated excellent protection for front and side impacts, achieving top scores in various crash test scenarios. The safety evaluation also included checks for active safety features such as electronic stability control, seatbelt reminders, and advanced restraint systems.

Tata Motors, known for producing high-safety-rated vehicles in the internal combustion engine (ICE) segment, continues to carry forward its safety-first approach into its electric vehicle lineup. The Harrier EV is based on the company’s Gen 2 EV architecture, which integrates a stronger body shell and high-strength steel structures to ensure enhanced crash protection. The vehicle also features multiple airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) in higher variants.

The 5-star rating from Bharat NCAP is a significant achievement, particularly as the Indian electric vehicle segment continues to grow rapidly. With increasing consumer focus on safety, this rating enhances the Harrier EV’s appeal among buyers seeking not only innovation and sustainability but also secure mobility. It also supports Tata Motors’ efforts to promote safe driving and engineering practices in India’s transition toward electric mobility.

In an official statement, Tata Motors expressed pride in the Harrier EV’s safety certification and reiterated its commitment to prioritizing passenger safety across all models. Company officials also highlighted that the Harrier EV’s high score is the result of years of research and testing to meet global safety standards while tailoring products to Indian road and usage conditions.

The Bharat NCAP program, which began crash testing Indian-spec vehicles in alignment with international procedures, aims to improve road safety and inform consumers about the safety performance of cars sold in the country. The program’s 5-star rating is currently the highest achievable score, indicating exceptional protection in the event of a collision.

Industry analysts have welcomed the development, stating that the Harrier EV’s crash test result will likely influence buying decisions and push other manufacturers to enhance safety in electric vehicles. As competition intensifies in the mid-size electric SUV category, factors such as build quality and safety credentials are expected to play a larger role in consumer preferences.

The Tata Harrier EV is expected to launch in the Indian market in the coming months. With this 5-star safety rating, it is positioned as one of the most reliable and secure electric vehicles to look forward to in the country’s growing EV segment.

The rating places the electric SUV among the top performers in the Indian automotive market in terms of structural integrity, occupant protection, and crashworthiness.
