ICICI Bank to Revise Service Charges from December 1, 2026: Check the New Fees

ICICI Bank is set to revise selected banking service charges from December 1, 2026. The changes will affect certain savings account transactions, including cash deposits, cash withdrawals, demand drafts and electronic clearing service debit returns. Customers who frequently conduct high-value cash transactions or have automatic payments linked to their accounts should review the updated fee structure before the new rules take effect. The revised charges may vary depending on the type of account held by the customer.

Cash Deposit and Withdrawal Charges

One of the main changes concerns cash deposits and withdrawals that exceed the applicable monthly value limits. Customers with eligible savings accounts will continue to receive three free cash deposits and three free cash withdrawals each month.

The complimentary value limit will remain Rs 1 lakh per month for deposits and Rs 1 lakh per month for withdrawals. However, once the monthly value limit is exceeded, the charge will increase from Rs 3.50 to Rs 4 per Rs 1,000, subject to a minimum charge of Rs 150.

The revised charges will apply to cash deposits and withdrawals at bank branches and cash deposits made through cash recycler machines, according to published reports.

Transaction DetailsRevised Rules from December 1
Free cash deposits3 per month
Free cash withdrawals3 per month
Monthly complimentary deposit valueUp to Rs 1 lakh
Monthly complimentary withdrawal valueUp to Rs 1 lakh
Charge after exceeding the value limitRs 4 per Rs 1,000 or Rs 150, whichever is higher
Charge after exceeding the transaction-count limitRs 150 per transaction

If a customer exceeds both the transaction-count limit and the monthly value limit, the higher applicable charge will be levied. Customers who remain within the relevant complimentary limits will not incur these additional cash transaction charges.

Demand Draft Charges

Demand drafts are another service mentioned in reports about the upcoming revision. A demand draft is a bank-issued payment instrument that can be used to transfer money to a beneficiary.

One report states that demand drafts below Rs 1 lakh will be free, while drafts of Rs 1 lakh and above may attract a charge of Rs 2 per Rs 1,000, subject to a maximum fee of Rs 15,000. However, the report uses overlapping thresholds for drafts at exactly Rs 1 lakh, so the precise charge at that amount requires confirmation from the bank.

Customers planning to request a demand draft should check the latest applicable schedule and confirm the fee with ICICI Bank before making the request. The exact charges may depend on the account category and the final terms in the bank's official schedule.

ECS Debit Return Charges

The bank will also revise charges for electronic clearing service, or ECS, debit returns caused by financial reasons, such as insufficient account balances.

Under the reported revised structure, the first return charge will remain Rs 500. The second and third returns under the same mandate will cost Rs 550 each, compared with the existing charge of Rs 500 per instance.

ECS Debit ReturnCharge from December 1
First returnRs 500
Second returnRs 550
Third returnRs 550

The bank's reported recovery limit will remain a maximum of three return instances per month for the same mandate. These charges could affect customers with recurring payments, including loan instalments and other automatic debits.

Customers can reduce the risk of failed payments by ensuring that sufficient funds are available before the scheduled debit date.

Which Customers Should Check the Revised Charges?

The changes may be relevant to customers who regularly deposit or withdraw large amounts of cash, request demand drafts, or use automatic debit facilities. However, the applicable fees and exemptions are not identical across every account type.

ICICI Bank publishes separate service-charge schedules for regular savings accounts, senior citizens, pensioners, student accounts and Basic Savings Bank Deposit Accounts, among other categories. Customers should consult the schedule corresponding to their particular account rather than assume that all fees apply uniformly.

Applicable taxes, including GST where required, may be charged in addition to the listed fees.

How Customers Can Prepare

Customers should review their monthly cash transaction totals and check whether they regularly exceed the free limits. Those who use ECS or other automatic debit arrangements should maintain sufficient balances to avoid return charges.

Before December 1, customers can visit the official ICICI Bank service-charge webpage or contact customer support to verify the final rates applicable to their account. Checking the updated schedule in advance can help customers plan transactions and avoid unexpected banking expenses.

The revised charges do not mean that every savings account transaction will automatically become more expensive. The impact will depend on the type of transaction, the amount involved, the number of monthly transactions and the account category.

5. Three-Line Content

ICICI Bank will revise selected service charges from December 1, 2026, covering cash transactions, demand drafts and ECS debit returns.

The cash transaction fee will increase to Rs 4 per Rs 1,000 after the applicable monthly value limit is exceeded, while three deposits and three withdrawals will remain free each month.

Customers should check their account-specific fee schedule and maintain sufficient funds for automatic payments to avoid additional charges.
