Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to deliver the Union Budget 2025-26 on February 1, 2025, at 11 am in Parliament. Various sectors have expressed their expectations and concerns leading up to the presentation.

In its Union Budget Preview for FY25-26, Bajaj Broking highlighted key expectations, stating that the Budget should focus on simplifying and rationalising taxes on capital market products. The firm specifically noted that while long-term capital gains tax was reduced to 12.5% in the previous Budget, a further reduction of 50-200 basis points could significantly benefit investors.

On the welfare front, Bajaj Broking predicts government spending on welfare schemes to stabilise as a percentage of GDP, indicating a balanced approach to social expenditure. However, they anticipate increased allocations in areas aimed at fostering job creation and enhancing skill development initiatives, reflecting a proactive stance toward addressing employment and economic growth.

The Budget is also expected to provide clarity on policies promoting economic stability and investor confidence while addressing critical areas like infrastructure, digital innovation, and sustainability.
