Applicants will need to pay a non-refundable application fee, which is expected to remain similar to previous years unless revised by the university.

The National Law University (NLU), Delhi has released the official notification regarding the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) 2026. The entrance exam is scheduled to take place on December 8, 2025. As per the update from the university, the registration process for the exam will begin on August 7, 2025, via the official AILET website at nationallawuniversitydelhi.in.

AILET is a national-level entrance examination conducted by NLU Delhi for admission to its undergraduate BA LLB (Hons), postgraduate LLM, and doctoral PhD programs in law. It is one of the most competitive law entrance tests in the country, with thousands of aspirants vying for a limited number of seats every year.

The application process will be conducted online, and candidates are advised to keep all the required documents ready in advance. These typically include a scanned passport-sized photograph, signature, category certificate (if applicable), and academic certificates. Applicants will need to pay a non-refundable application fee, which is expected to remain similar to previous years unless revised by the university. Fee concessions will likely be available for candidates belonging to SC, ST, and PwD categories.

The AILET 2026 exam will be held in offline mode across various test centers in India. The question paper for the BA LLB program will consist of sections such as English Language, Current Affairs and General Knowledge, Logical Reasoning, and Legal Reasoning. For LLM and PhD aspirants, the paper will focus more on core legal subjects, research aptitude, and writing skills.

Candidates are encouraged to thoroughly go through the official information bulletin before applying. The bulletin will provide details about exam pattern, eligibility criteria, reservation policy, seat matrix, and important instructions regarding the test and admission process. The university also plans to release sample papers and mock tests on its official portal to help aspirants understand the exam format and prepare effectively.

Admit cards for AILET 2026 will be released a few weeks prior to the exam date. These can be downloaded using the registered login credentials. It is mandatory for all candidates to carry the admit card along with a valid photo ID to the examination center on the day of the exam.

The result is expected to be declared in the last week of December 2025, followed by the counselling and admission process for various law programs. Only those who clear the cut-off scores and satisfy the eligibility criteria will be considered for final admission.

Students aspiring to join NLU Delhi are advised to start their preparation early, stay updated through official announcements, and ensure timely completion of the registration process once the application window opens on August 7, 2025.
